What travelers are saying
- R CKingsport, TN36 contributionsWonderful location. Spent a week here. Close enough to go to the sites in the city but has an island vibe. Feels very safe. Recommend for families.Written October 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GPhadnisMumbai, India98 contributionsIt's a white sand beach around san diego. The water is clean and due to white sand the beach aopears golden in colour. Left side is all san Diego city and the enroute to beach is also amazingWritten September 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 50statestravelerAlta Loma, CA1,752 contributionsWe were staying in the Gaslamp District without a car and decided to take the ferry to Coronado for dinner. It was easy to find the schedule online and plan our trip and reservations. We took the 5:55 pm ferry from the convention center.
It was a little tricky getting to and finding the loading dock but once we did it was a great experience. We pre-purchased our tickets online (no refunds) at $9/person each way. If you have any mobility issues like I do (bad knee) I suggest going on the Hilton side of the Convention Center, rather than taking the massive amount of stairs required both up snd down the convention center walkway. There is an elevator but you have to contact security to run it for you which we did not do. We weren't sure we were in the right area to board the ferry initially because we had difficulty locating any signs or people to ask. There is a smaller sign over the gate/fence but the view of it was blocked by a yacht coming from our direction. Just head towards Joe's Crab Shack, it's right next door. Unfortunately there are no benches or shade covering available in the area so don't arrive too early if it's a warm day.
The ferry arrived and departed right on schedule. The crew were friendly and it was a pleasant trip with great views. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, plenty of space for everyone. It's a large ferry.
The return trip was more crowded and you need to make sure you're getting on the correct ferry as one also goes to another area of town. The line was longer but there are a few benches and a covered area on to Coronado Island side if you need to sit down.Written September 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Yvonne C57 contributionsWhat can I say! It’s a parking lot for RVs & travel trailers. But you’re right on the beach. You must be a self contained RV or travel trailer. The restrooms and shower facilities are closed and locked at 7:00pm. That includes the main gate. Yes that means no entry or exit between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am. But you’re right on the beach. The showers require tokens. For a $1.00 you get 2 tokens. One token gives you 2 minutes of shower time. There is an extra fee for parking in the beach row. And the sunsets are awesome! Did I say you’re right on the beach!Written November 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OttermomSioux Falls, SD109 contributionsWalked the length of the beach & it was so fun to see this dog beach at the end. If I’d had more time I would have loved to watch the pups playing more.Written June 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lawrence C2 contributionsVery shady, peaceful area with clean, cozy bathroom facilities and faucets. Perfect for just strolling, picnics, or just relaxing. I parked here and used this area as a base for my walking tour of the nearby restaurants (where I had a nice salad & almond milk latte). Beautiful area and very friendly people!Written October 10, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

Easy drive over the Coronado Bridge from downtown.
Offers some lovely views of the bridge and downtown San Diego.
Lot of street parking in the area...we were able to get a spot closeby along Orange Avenue. There is also a free lot nearby at First Street and D Avenue...a few minute walk away.

- on_the_go_98765Tucson20,581 contributionsThis is a win-win in every respect. We never miss an opportunity to stop at the "Second Hand Prose" resale book-shop around the corner from the library but the library itself is a fantastic museum/time capsule with some very special exhibits and historical documents.
This time around, we spent time looking at the miniature rooms exhibit and made our way into the historical Spreckels Reading Room. This beautiful building circa 1909 is a community treasure. It is hard to imagine finding a more exceptionally wonderful library.Written June 9, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
