effie yeaw nature center is an outstanding oasis for nature trails, walks by the American River, bird watching, lectures on local wild life, a place to picnic and to learn the natural history of the area.
The nature center has a few captive raptors that have been rehabbed, as well as snakes, turtles, and the cutest owl you have ever seen named Sophie.

It's interesting to see the salmon going up the ladders, walk through the rearing ponds and see the trout, and of course see the visitor center.
