Went to Wegner for my birthday today and had a great time! Found a lot of great pieces. Chris was extremely helpful, kind and knowledgeable. He gave us some pointers, and showed us some good spots! Highly recommend going to Wegner! We spent our time at the forest mine.

My husband and I are self-proclaimed rock hounds from Minnesota and we like to travel around the States to find what each area has to offer. We researched some of the popular mines in the area and luckily landed with Twin Creek Crystal Mine. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by David and he openly explained the mine operations to us. Within a few minutes he offered us a gorgeous crystal cluster to keep!...I thought he was just showing us an example of what we may find during our dig. When I mentioned I was a teacher and interested in finding little crystals for my students, he gave me more! David stated that he finds so much joy in giving people crystals from their mine and wants everyone who comes to visit to have a great time regardless if they find crystals or not....however, there's no way anyone wouldn't find their own crystals; the mine was full of absolutely beautiful crystals that were so clear and untouched/unmarred by heavy machinery. We even returned the next day to talk with David (and Bobby) and to see some of his personal crystal specimens that have been pulled from their mine over the years. We would rate Twin Creek Crystal Mine a 10+++ out of 10.
Before going to Twin Creek, we scouted out Wegner's Crystal Mine and planned on taking a mine tour with them as well. However, we were not impressed with the retail aspect of their operation and how they import all types of rock specimens to sell rather than focus on the authentic Arkansas crystal mining experience. While talking with one of Wegner's staff, I reached down onto the roadway and picked up a tiny crystal about the size of a pencil eraser and was promptly told to, "Read the sign, DO NOT PICK UP ANY CRYSTALS FROM THE GROUND". I actually laughed but then dropped the tiny crystal as I realized he was serious. And all I was trying to do was show my husband just how prevalent the crystals were in the area; not keep it for myself. The vibe of Wegner's Crystal Mine was NOT for us. Plus, we were told that they plant small crystals into their tailings piles and if you find a decent one, they will take it from you as their own.

We had a pretty good time hunting in the mine but found only small crystals here. According to "Dave" who was watching the mine while the main guys were in town at a festival said that was the norm at Arrowhead. Considering the fee (20 bucks) we felt good about the quality and quantity we found. Just a bit disappointed that we didn't find much that was larger than about 1/4" in width. All in all fun, not a bad day.
Warning though for drivers of small cars... the road in is rough and I did use 4wd going in. Pretty deep ruts so be careful not to get high centered.

The volunteers were all super nice. It is fairly small but they have a variety of great art work on display. The prices were very reasonable. We always stop here when we visit this area to see if they have anything new that we want to take home.

We went on the private dig with Sam and Charlie. It was well worth the price. The guides were knowledgeable and so helpful. The experience was much better than we expected. The public dig area was okay but nothing compared to private dig.

This museum is amazing! Very well thought out. Excellent exhibits all related to the area. They even have an old rotary dial pay phone you can make calls on. The volunteer who was there was very knowledgeable and friendly. This is a definite must do if you are in the area

Turtle Cove is perhaps the best spa in Arkansas. Very clean and skilled therapists. Highly recommend! If with a group, call ahead and order food to snack on between treatments - they prepared an amazing charcuterie tray, spinach dip, and other fun foods - their catering menu is extensive.

The views were wonderful. Spen 3 days in mines digging crystals. Had an excellent time. Camped at Denby point campground in a RV. Very peaceful. They had trails to hike and a wonderful lake very close. You could walk to the lake in 5 minutes it was a great stay. I will be going back in the future.

They had the most beautiful crystals! The owner even makes a lot of the jewelry. If you're looking for something you will definitely find it here. Found a Dia de Los muertes pair of earrings that were precious.

Spent over an hour chatting with the owner about his rock collection and how he obtained his pieces. Prices were fair, company was outstanding, and knowledge gained was great. The place may not seem like much, but it is definitely worth a stop.
