- Linsey J10 contributionsMy fiance and I don't kite surf - but we loved just relaxing and watching those that were. It was beautiful!Written October 27, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mario GNew Hartford, CT48 contributionsBest beach in the Puerto Plata area! Known primarily as a surfer beach, but the vibe here is cool for anyone who loves nature and a laid back place to enjoy the ocean. There is a shady area under a canopy of trees right up to the beach that allows you to get out of the sun when you need to, and within that are all the surf schools, the shops, and the cafes. The beach itself is beautiful although not really safe for swimming due to the strong currents that go hand in hand with the waves -- you can walk into the water a good ways but don't think you are going to practice your strokes here as you will get carried far off course. Get directions here from any local -- you just need to go down an unmarked dirt road across from Encuentro Surf Lodge and you will find a parking area steps from the action.Written April 27, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- FelipeBerlin, Germany302 contributionsI think it is possible do go without the guides, but you should definitely get them by the entrance. You will need helmets, light and they also explain about the place.Written February 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Fiona SWinnipeg, Canada6 contributionsWe booked a 1.5 hour ride the evening before and they got back to me the next day to confirm a 2:00 ride for that day. The Ranch itself is beautiful. It was me and my husband and 2 guides. Rode the beaches and into the jungle. Horses were great with lots of energy and guides were easy going. Lots of cantering on the beaches which was fantastic!! Highly recommend Seahorse Ranch for an amazing ride.Written February 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- retiredfunCabarete, Dominican Republic127 contributionsWe go to Cabarete for several onths every year and all our visitors are taken there for lunch. I have also recommended this venue to many people, all who have expressed their pleasure with the experience. On our last visit, we took the boat down the river. We are currently waiting for a taxi to take our visiting grandchildren for lunch.Written March 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jafreisy Vargas1 contributionI am so grateful for the Jojim tour company. They absolutely have the most wonderful and friendly services of the north coast. I have been in transit with them since 5 years ago, and I’ve no regrets or negative experiences: rather, they make the trip so easy going, enjoyable, delicious if you can stop for the chicharrón😍 and you’re definitely making your first Dominican friends. Muchísimas gracias a Alvaro, Fernando y su papá for always taking care of me and being so flexible with my trips in the DR. I am very happy in Cabarete, next stop??💙Written May 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

He picked up our group every morning for surf camp and got us to the beach safely. He even helped me out by picking me up on my day off, which I really appreciated. Next time I visit, I’ll be sure to try one of his tours.Written November 17, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Maria K1 contributionMarcus is a very driven teacher and a very helpful person passionate about what he is doing. Definitely recommended for first time lessons of surfing. A lot of support and useful tips/ feedback. If I ever come back to Dominican Republic I will for sure go back to his surf school.Written February 6, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Rebecca NNew Paltz, New York5 contributionsAngelo is a lovely person who is extremely knowledgeable about the island. He was early to pick us up at STI and was incredibly relaxed about the fact that my husband’s luggage was lost and it took us forever to get out of the airport! He told us a lot about the island as we drove from STI to Cabarete. He’s easy to contact, on time, if not early, reliable, and reasonable. We will definitely hire him again!Written December 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Haka1 contributionNina offered us a broad range of activitities and tours for a good price. She was very helpful and it was easy to communicate via WhatsApp in English. She moved the date of one of our tours because of the weather so that we could fully enjoy the trip.
The tours were great fun. We strongly recommend the horseback riding: superb views of amazing nature and a friendly owner of the ranch. Punta Rusia and the vip tour were also very nice. For adventurous people, the waterfalls are a must-do.
Thanks for everything, Nina and all the others!

Nice team of people, reasonable prices, and super convenient location right on the surf beach. Enjoyed my lesson with Migue. He showed me where to catch beginner level waves and helped me improve my surfing. Bring booties because there are sea urchins.Written March 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Bob HGrand Rapids, MI17 contributionsLiquid Blue is the place to go for gear and Kiteboard lessons. We spent a week in Cabarete and signed daughter Taylor up for lessons with Charles and his team. Couldn’t have been more impressed. Great experience and she was up and riding in just a few hours of lessons.Written May 1, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sarah PQuebec City, Canada10 contributionsVery good and convenient surf rental place - not only do they have a nice variety of boards, but you can leave your stuff in security in the shed with peace of mind for the whole day. You can pay for a 10-day (or more) package and they allow you to leave with the leash and take whichever board you want whenever you want, but don't forget to sign their daily record. Very convenient if you are planning to stay several weeks at Encuentro and don't want to carry your board.Written May 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
