On a personalised tour from the port of Keelung to Taipei, we were fortunate to visit Martyr on the cusp of the Changing of the Guard.

This was a well rehearsed drill and it took more than a few minutes, with about 6 guards marching from the very front of the site to the ceremonial building some 150 metres away. At this point they went to the front of the building (no access by the public), went through a ceremonial process and finally returned to the beginning by once again marching amongst the public who were only touching distance away.

    Quite spectacular and highly recommended.

It is a park that nearby a river that was set to be a protection zone of fishes. There are at least 4 native fishes can be found in the river. Many people tried to swim in the river or have their meal nearby the river bank. But I would say, please don't swim or having activities in the river during May, June and July, as these months are reproduction season of native fishes. For people who are interested in learning fish behaviors, my colleague and I observed mating behavior clearly in June and July.

Junxian Drawbridge is in Qidu, which crossing Keelung River. There are green zone alone the river on both side; therefore Junxian River is a good place for everyone who want to take a rest just after a jogging, walking or biking.

There is fireworks show on lantern festival in Keelung. In the pass two yeas, the show is set nearby Junxiam Drawbridge.

If you enjoy viewing coastal landforms, you would like to check the park out. It's not overrun by tourists, like in Yeliu. I went on a Friday afternoon. There were few visitors. The stroll was very pleasant without rowdy crowds. You can't get down on the rocks like in Yeliu. There is a walkway around the park where you can enjoy views of the eroded rocks, the special features and the open sea. There are cafes in the visitors centre building.
Check the website for times if you want to join the free guided tour there ( one per day during weekdays and two on weekends).

遙望協和發電廠,心中感慨萬千!出國前退伍後的兩年青春歲月就在此渡過。 However, I have never been here before.
    一直誤以為是四根煙囱,結果是三根,差點糊塗了一輩子,因為有四個機組。

It’s a nice place for a walk. The scenery is awesome, and people there are so friend. Keelung Maritime Plaza is close to the Keelung Night Market, so it’s convenient to have some street food after taking a stroll. However, the weather in Keelung is not always good. Most of the time is a raining day, so it’s better to bring an umbrella.

Walked up via the car route (From the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology / 海科馆).
Road up was quite steep, walk-able if you walk slowly.
Heard there are other ways to go up, did not explore.

View quite nice, picture background available from all angles.
Steps not very steep, ample of "resting spots"

Many routes & signboards pointing out each route.
Most seem to stay on the main route and not venture too far.
View from main route quite nice.

Keelung Harbour appears to be relatively small, but is is a deep water port that can easily accommodate large ships; Keelung Harbour is a popular port-of-call for international cruise ships. The port has been a point of entry for foreign intruders, and was for many years the main port for Taipei. It's known as "Rainy Port," it's famous for its drizzle. Keelung is 14 miles from Taipei as the crow flies; the train takes around 45 minutes.
