What travelers are saying
- Johan PNelspruit, South Africa84 contributionsWe visited the historic site where a 23 year old Boer soldier was executed by the English after he was captured during a skirmish. Sad story but a well balanced narrative of events.Written August 21, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- vanjaysDurban, South Africa168 contributionsIf you enjoy history and war memories - you must go. It was interesting and we learnt quite a bit about the towns involvement in the wars.Written January 26, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Staci KEretria, Greece101 contributionsI came across this memorial on my run through the town. Well maintained and informative. Probably no need to get out the car to read this one.Written March 23, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ericvzylVredendal, South Africa253 contributionsThe Monument is located at the entrance of Camdaboo National Park. Even though you might not spend alot off time at this monument it’s still worth visiting and learning more of South-Africa’s history.Written August 30, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- vanjaysDurban, South Africa168 contributionsSad more of this and the people involved has not been made. The Jewish people played huge roles in our economy and I think this could be elevated to be more meaningful!Written January 26, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MelfingJohannesburg, South Africa15 contributionsPoignant monument to those fallen. We noted it was in good condition and all lettering could be read.Written February 10, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- FranscoisGraaff-Reinet, South Africa17 contributionsSeems very insignificant if you walk past it in the street, but very interesting part of South African history.Written January 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Jill dPort Elizabeth, South Africa2,542 contributionsThis scaled down replica of the Paardekraal monument was gifted by the Krugersdorp Municipality to Graaff Reinet on the occasion of the 200 year milestone of the existence of the town. The full story behind the significance and symbolism of the monument is not immediately accessible to the visitor, as like many other monuments and memorials in this country, it has suffered under the hands of vandals and other cerebrally challenged miscreants! Fortunately, there is enough documentation, both in book form and on the internet,to fully acquaint yourself with the necessary info.
This monument is also on the left hand side of the road into town, just south of the Sundays River bridge and not far from the Jewish Pedlars monument.Written September 26, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - McGill_TripperMontreal, Canada249 contributionsYup, took a considerable time to find but well worth the visit. Sort of strange to look at an old pyramid made of stone at first, until your realize the significance of the display.
Very well doneWritten April 26, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
