From Salta is a 4 hr drive to Cafayate crossing these spectacular Quebrada de las Conchas, some of the country's most impressive rock formations with layers of stunning colors and unusual shapes creating a visual feast along this winding route.

A must see! Be sure to stop on your way to the Piattelli Vineyard. There were people singing while we were there, the acoustics were so unique.

Apart from the amazing natural formation, there is a local artisan who works with gems who is wonderful and her prices are quite modest.

We were slightly apprehensive about this hike as there was a lot of conflicting information online. This was our experience:

-We paid ~1000 pesos to get a taxi from town to the entrance.
-When we arrived the police were there overseeing all the transactions.
-At the entrance we paid 4500 pesos per person as an entry fee for all 7 waterfalls (“La Ultima”) and this INCLUDED a guide. We also had to give our details and sign a waiver. The lower waterfalls cost 2500 pesos per person.
-We confirmed all the details of the transaction before setting off - ensuring the price included the guide and all 7 waterfalls.
-We did not experience any guides hassling us and there was no price negotiation. It all seemed very official (I’m not sure if they have changed the system or we got lucky that the police were present!!).

The experience was absolutely fantastic and the hike was so much fun - definitely the highlight of Cafayate!!
-We are experienced hikers but having a guide was pretty essential as there were no clear track markings and we had to make several knee height river crossing which our guide was able to support us with. It would have taken a lot longer to find our way without a guide.
-The hike involves climbing over rocks and walking through the river so definitely don’t wear nice shoes as they will get soaked!
-Our guide, Sylvestre, was fantastic - he helped with river crossing and rock climbing. Our safety was important to him.
-The hike took us ~3-3.5 hours at a quick pace including a 30 minutes stop at the waterfall for a dip in the water (30 minutes was enough for us, we were not rushed by Sylvestre).
-We left early ~9.30am and had the waterfall to ourselves! On our way back we encountered 4-5 groups so it definitely gets busier later in the morning.
-At end of the hike we gave Sylvestre a small tip and he offered to order us a taxi back to town. We had actually run out of money so we ended up just walking back to town and it took about 45 minutes in the heat!

It is important to note that our experience may have been influenced by the police being present or possibly they have introduced a new system as it seemed quite different compared to other reviews we read online. Regardless we would highly recommend this hike to all adventure seekers visiting Cafayate!!

This was an amazing place with lots of history and people that really know what they are talking about. Recommended for everyone that wants to learn about the wine production in Calchaquí Valley.

Andrés guided us for all lines of production, from the vineyards to the bottle, while explaining with extreme detail how the altitude and the region weather makes their wines so special.

We didn’t had the chance to go to the Restaraunt near by since was completely booked, but we heard good things.

You can’t miss it if you are in Cafayate

Interesting, short "tour'. Only in Spanish, but we could ask questions in English, visiting only the wine making room. After the tour you can taste the 4 different standard wines (Torrontés, Malbec, Cabernet and a desert wine, unfortunately not the Reserva). Current price is $1000 per person. Tour and tasting is about 1 hour, starting at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 14.00, 15.30 and 17.00 hrs. The restaurant has great setting, the food is good, but service could be better (we were waiting for more than 10 minutes without any attention from staff, while not busy).

We have definitely made a right choice coming to this winery. We were the only visitors, wine was great, estate is beautiful with extensive collection of cactuses and beautiful mountain view. Girl who was doing the wine tasting did a personal tour of the winery for us and we have spent enjoyable couple of hours there. Cheese was great too.

We were so happy to find a bodega which offers a tour in English! The staff member Ninive is the one to give them, and she was SO friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks to her, we enjoyed our visit a ton. Informative tour, great tasting, and we even purchased a very special bottle to take home. We went to 3 other bodegas in Cafayate and this one was my favorite.
Fyi, it's straight in the town, therefore the vineyards are not on the site.

Nicer than most plazas, surrounded by restaurants, gift shops and local government buildings.

Easy parking and several good places to have lunch or dinner.

We took the cooking class with Saúl Sulaiman. In cre di ble. It was a wonderful experience with the chef of the restaurant, who’s a great teacher and conveys his knowledge and love of what he does. We had a great time with him and Leo, tasting Piattelli’s wines with a breathtaking view and empanadas made with our own hands. 100% recommended.

We went here for dinner while it was raining (very heavily) for first time after 8 months. Water was even flowing a bit into the restaurant. The restaurant is relatively small, but has a nice interior. We arrived late, but the waitress was very friendly and served us some good wines and also the food was very tasteful. In the meantime the small garden looked like a swimming pool, but they continued to deliver great service. Try some of their organic wines. During the day there are also tours every hour.

We had an wonderful lunch here a couple of weeks ago. The hotel that is being worked on, looks like it will be beautiful when complete. But the wine cellar, facilities, and food and wine were very very good. Service excellent. We crossed paths with one of the owners and were able to say hi (Luisa) and she was very gracious. We cant wait to return.

You can pull in on the roadside to marvel at the splendour of these weathered and worn red sandstone cliffs as they tower over the meandering river with it’s associated greenery. It’s really quite wonderful.

The tour was very informative. The wine was decent. The technique that they use is interesting. The facility is not that large.
