- MarkA7561United Kingdom136 contributionsThis review is for the tour run by Viajes Travel/Tiamar Travel - cos they were great. 5 hr trip with many great sightseeing stops. Stupendous views. Very friendly drivers/guides and very enthusiastic incl taking great photos. Ridiculously good value for money considering how much of this beautiful countryside we saw. Only in Spanish but tbh it’s all about the views so that doesn’t matter.Written March 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Carla C23 contributionsWonderful place, very worth seeing! I would extremely recommend it. The road between Salta city and Cafayate is paved and in good conditions (unlike the road to Cachi, which is made of rubble and some people have flat tyre accidents). If you rent a car and feel adventurous (but not too comfort with the dangers of a rubble road with no network coverage and limited accident assistance) take this route!Written May 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - gillyfldoncaster25 contributionsCame for afternoon bodega tour and tasting which was fun, informative and very interesting. On arrival at the reception we were given a complimentary glass of wine to try prior to the start of the tour, and were able to enjoy it sat in a beautiful old patio. After the tour and tasting we wandered through the grounds of its adjoining hotel and were so impressed that we booked in for dinner at the patio restaurant there that night, which was also wonderful. Great memories of the afternoon and evening, I highly recommend a visit.Written January 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - dthompsonusaHINGHAM5 contributionsA must see! Be sure to stop on your way to the Piattelli Vineyard. There were people singing while we were there, the acoustics were so unique.Written October 30, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Filippo Angeli12 contributionsThe landscape that one sees during the tour of the Cascadas is breathtaking! Cacti, uncontaminated nature, and meters and meters tall falls. Our tour guide, Silvestre was very knowledgeable of the paths, space and history, and a wonderful company to be around. We suggest anyone who wants to explore the Cascadas to go with the tour as it is not possible to do it solo. The tour we went for reached the 7th Cascada and not for the faint-hearted. However, our tour guide knew how to make the climb as swift as possible. Thank you Silvestre and everyone who’s involved in making these tours possible!Written June 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MarkyMAmsterdamAmsterdam, The Netherlands171 contributionsInteresting, short "tour'. Only in Spanish, but we could ask questions in English, visiting only the wine making room. After the tour you can taste the 4 different standard wines (Torrontés, Malbec, Cabernet and a desert wine, unfortunately not the Reserva). Current price is $1000 per person. Tour and tasting is about 1 hour, starting at 10.30, 11.30, 12.30, 14.00, 15.30 and 17.00 hrs. The restaurant has great setting, the food is good, but service could be better (we were waiting for more than 10 minutes without any attention from staff, while not busy).Written November 3, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PipFefMelbourne, Victoria, Australia158 contributionsThis was our first winery in Cafayate. We turned up , not sure what to expect, and were greeted by lovely staff. We decided on doing a standard tour and wine tasting ( in English). It was fabulous! Such a superb vineyard, and the underground cellar and tasting area were magnificent. 5 stars for such a wonderful experience- and lovely wines! We wished we had stayed for lunch!Written October 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Valerie SWest chester, PA72 contributionsWe attended a tour and tasting. Then had the Five plate lunch with paired wines. We were there ALL DAY! Would not trade this experience. The tour was informative and thorough. Tasting educational and delicious. Best Rose I’ve had in Argentina. Restaurant service was OUTSTANDING! I’m glad we chose the five courses because the a la carte options would have taken me all day to choose! Each plate was absolutely delicious! The winery, at the base of the Andes offers an incomparable view from the dining rooms and patios. For us this day was a top five highlight of two months in Argentina, and after visiting dozens of wineries around the world. Worth going all the way to Cafayate for this spectacular experience. Loved it!Written September 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jeff C43 contributionsThe Museum of the Vine and Wine of Cafayate is an impressive tribute to the art of wine-making, with a special focus on wine in the Salta region.
More than simply a collection of equipment and information about wine, the exhibit is saturated with the passion and dedication of the winegrowers and drinkers. It paints a story of life and beauty through the growth of the vines, the harvesting of grapes and their transformation into wine. Your entry to the museum also includes a taste of a local wine at the end, which is a lovely touch having spent the time to learn how the wines are made!
The only criticism that might be made of the museum is that it is quite text-heavy, even though the content is artfully written and presented. This didn't bother me and I loved how it was done.
A visit to this museum is exceptionally worthwhile for anyone visiting Cafayate and enjoying everything else it has to offer!Written October 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff member Ninive is the one to give them, and she was SO friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Thanks to her, we enjoyed our visit a ton. Informative tour, great tasting, and we even purchased a very special bottle to take home. We went to 3 other bodegas in Cafayate and this one was my favorite.
Fyi, it's straight in the town, therefore the vineyards are not on the site.Written March 24, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Water was even flowing a bit into the restaurant. The restaurant is relatively small, but has a nice interior. We arrived late, but the waitress was very friendly and served us some good wines and also the food was very tasteful. In the meantime the small garden looked like a swimming pool, but they continued to deliver great service. Try some of their organic wines. During the day there are also tours every hour.Written November 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - THECOOLDUDE12339 contributionsThis wine is a MUST, if you are in Cafayate. They have the best torrontés in town. They red wines are just amazing! It was the unique place in Argentina, where we got some cheese and crackers together with the wine tasting. Mónica was a nice guide showing and explaining us the different processes in the wine production, amazing worker, really attentive. We got a box of different wines to enjoy at home.Written February 5, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
