What travelers are saying
- I H4 contributionsSanta Cruz Spanish School was one of my favourite weeks in Guatemala, and if you are considering learning Spanish, this is the place to do it!
Firstly, the location is beautiful, in a stunning garden with views of Lago de Atitlan, it is definitely a lovely place to learn.
Secondly, all of the staff that help to run this place are so kind.
I did a week with my partner and our teacher was Lesbia, and we both learnt so much through her!
The lessons were a combination of learning through theory work, activities and conversations. This really helped with our development, (as we were starting from scratch) and Lesbia was so patient and helpful.
Thirdly, Rosaría, who operates the school, does so seamlessly, and after deliberating which school to go to around the lake, we were promptly reassured on our first day that we had picked the right one!
It was so well organised and all the staff, including Pedro (another teacher we met) were really kind.
All in all, our time and money here was well spent!
Muchas gracias to all at Santa Cruz Spanish School and buena suerte to all the future students who attend here!Written February 6, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Miguel C1 contributionThe experience was amazing, Alfredo was helpful and guided us step by step. If you're a bit of a cooking novice some parts may take a little longer but it's totally doable. The spices and flavors were delicious!Written December 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sue KSaltspring Island7 contributionsExcellent massage in a low key lakeside setting. You can chill out in the hammocks and swim in the lake here too. The tours they offer are also excellent.Written November 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TravelandfoodSingapore, Singapore357 contributionsWe loved everything about this store. First, it has been created by members of the community of Santa Cruz de la Laguna. Second, it helps employ and benefits members of the community. Third, the products made from the talented hands are priced very reasonably. We love handmade products that make an impact on local communities. We bought almost Q.1K of gifts. Highly recommend a visit.Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Joanna W2 contributionsOur family took a Kayak Guatemala tour from Panjachel to San Juan La Laguna with Alex as our guide, and our experience was so much richer and more relaxing than it would have been had we gone on our own. Alex was so professional, yet warm, and we truly appreciated learning from him throughout the day. We also greatly enjoyed meeting and learning from the varied artisans and women with knowledge of traditional Mayan medicinal herbology who Alex introduced us to, as well as exploring corners of the town off the beaten path. I highly recommend a Kayak Guatemala tour for visitors to Lake Atitlan, especially for those traveling with a child like us!Written August 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Emily BDes Moines, IA3 contributionsWhile at a yoga retreat at Lake Atitlan, a few of us hired Pedro, a local birdwatching guide. He was amazing! Incredibly knowledgeable and lightning quick at spotting birds. He could identify by sound or quick flyover, and in no time had his scope set up so we could view it up close. I loved how excited he got over every bird! He was kind and gracious to answer all of our questions. We learned he owns Voltan Adventures, so we asked if we could hire him again another day. Two days later, we went birdwatching with his brother, Isaias, at Los Tarrales Natural Reserve. Everything was arranged for us, from the private boat to the private shuttle. Isaias was equally incredible at birdwatching and sent us the list of observed birds so we could easily enter them into eBird. Because of these two wonderful guides, I was able to log 92 species in 6 days -- 70 of which were lifers to me! I cannot recommend Voltan Adventures enough!!Written November 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
