- Beth v1 contributionI was nervous going into this trip, a 9.5 mile hike then 5 days of river rafting however a wonderful trip and I would do it again!! Wilbur, Barnes, Candy and Shyanne were incredible! We all felt like family at the end, the 5 days went by way too fast! This trip is well worth it!!Written September 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Buddy1 contributionWe took a group of 10 high school students on the Salt river with Brent, Olivia, and Glen for a 4 day trip that was absolutely amazing. The guides were great, the food was delicious, the kids had the time of their life’s.Written March 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - No W1 contributionThis tour was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Valley Hop Co. is, without question, the most poorly run and unprofessional operation I’ve ever encountered. The driver kicked things off by complaining when we asked him to make a quick stop to pick up food we had pre-ordered, a perfectly reasonable request given that this was a private tour. From there, things only went downhill. The instructions we were given for the trip were shockingly vague and unclear. We were told to look for "three trash cans" roughly two hours into the float to find our designated pick-up spot. To ensure we didn’t miss it, we even set a timer and kept a vigilant lookout.
About an hour and 15 minutes into the trip, we spotted a stop with just one trash can, which didn’t match the driver’s cryptic description, so we kept floating. We asked other kayakers if they knew where the stop was, and they suggested it was still further ahead. After floating for more than half an hour with no sign of the pick-up point, we tried calling and texting the driver, who had never once bothered to check on us when we failed to show up at the supposed stop.
When we finally reached him, his response was shockingly rude and aggressive. Instead of showing any concern for our safety, he yelled at us, dismissing our calls and berating us for not stopping earlier. His instructions had been so unclear that we missed two additional stops, neither of which were accessible or clearly marked. When we finally insisted on sharing our location (which we’re convinced he would have ignored had we not been so persistent), he showed up with an eye-roll and muttered an offensive, derogatory slur that left us absolutely appalled. I won’t even repeat the word—it was that vile.
His behavior was beyond unprofessional—it was downright hostile, condescending, and entirely inappropriate. To make matters worse, he had the audacity to send an invoice demanding extra payment for “additional time” and even threatened legal action if we didn’t pay within 72 hours. This company and its employees are nothing short of a disaster. My advice: STAY FAR AWAY from Valley Hop Co. They’re offensive, unprofessional, and a complete embarrassment to the service industry.Written October 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tour guide, Rob, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. We were able to see lots of Mustangs including a foal and her mama knee deep eating from the Salt River. Spectacular. We saw a bald eagles nest, a Blue Heron and various water birds. My only disappointment was the amount of litter, mainly beer cans, in the water. I would think that these tour groups would arrange a debris picking up day to clear out the river of the unsightly garbage. Would be easy.Written October 18, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
