It was located in the center of Recoleta near the famous cemetery of the same name. In 1732, Jesuit architects designed the building in the Gothic Revival style as a home for Recoleta friars.
Over time, it has been a school, hospital, and shelter for homeless people until the 1970s.
After renovating in the 1980s, it was turned into an exhibition and cultural center, where concerts, artistic presentations, and workshops of diverse kinds are held, especially for young artists.
Check out its event calendar for upcoming events.
TIP: It even has a beautiful terrace with sculptures overlooking the park.

The main appeal of the Galería Güemes is the architecture. There are some shops, but they were not of great interest to me. It was built in 1913 in the art nouveau style and designed by Italian architect Francisco Gianotti. The ornate details of the glass ceiling domes are a glimpse back into history.

Strolling through Plaza Francia and noted this building adjacent. Decided to satisfy our curiosity and ventured inside. Limited collection of art work and 3D images. The display of best pictures of 2016 were a highlight; unusual content and locations with many open to interpretation. Plenty of open spaces in the building. The building itself is an architectural delight, dating to another earlier era, but looks to be in genteel decay. We enjoyed our time viewing the exhibits although limited by the language barrier.

The Vivian Maier exhibit is wonderful. Each photograph is so vivid and interesting. We also enjoyed the Pantone/People exhibit in the next room. The museum is small, so the visit was fairly short.

I can't stress this ENOUGH!!!! If you go on the Subte Subway System or in a crowd of shoppers like on the Florida Peatonal, be prepared for the best pick pockets around. I lost TWO cameras worth over $2300 in two days walking around there. BE FORE WARNED!!!!

This striking modernist home was owned by a remarkable women who was a key figure in 20th century literature, particularly as the editor of an avant grade magazine which published Borges and many others. The home has been lovingly restored with commendable restraint and hosts a small but illuminating exhibit of her career. Close to MALBA and more than worth the short walk.

This place is well-hidden - to reach it you have to go into what looks like the entrance to an underground car park after the end of Florida Street. It is worth it though, they have interesting exhibitions.

In the bohemian neighbourhood of Palermo and on Armenian Street is this magnificent and well-kept cultural centre for the country of Armenia. This building has the best library of Armenian history and culture in all of Latin America, with valuable books and documents.
The restaurant on the first floor is exceptional, and the best place to eat Armenian food in Buenos Aires.

TIP: La Viruta tango club is in the basement and is one of the best tango clubs in the city.

We just happened to be walking past and saw the old cars inside. The doors were locked but we were allowed in. Some interesting pieces but for us the cars stole the show. Well worth the short visit.
