- PippieHarrow, UK24 contributionsI only went part way along the Hermanus cliff path but the views were spectacular. The rough surf crashing against the rocks was beautiful and energising. - NibblingscribblerCape Town, South Africa17 contributionsThe wine! Was! Amazing! Incredible selection of very interesting and unique wines. The backdrop was beautiful overlooking the lagoon. Be sure to pick a day that isn’t too windy as we had to sit inside due to the wind. Well-thought-out pairings for both the cheese and choc side. Popped to the very helpful Wine Village in Hermanus to buy the wine that was out of stock at the actually wine farm afterwards.
We attended the cheese and wine pairing as well as the chocolate and wine pairing. For starters the wines were all introduced at once which can be slightly overwhelming (5 wines and chocs/cheeses) but luckily we had the menu in front of us although it still wasn’t too clear as there were two menus for one tasting. The host seemed to be in a rush when introducing the wine and was tidying up as explaining even though we were the only ones there. We saw the host only once after this and had no check-ins from any of the staff.Written December 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LondonLockwoodLoughton, UK971 contributionsIt was the last full day of our time in SA and took the coast route from Gordon’s Bay to Hermanus having been recommended Ficks Pool. It’s a terrific spot close to the sea with a very cool outdoor seating area. We managed to get front row which was nice. The food was terrific.. As was the good selection of wines and beer on offer. What made it for us was seeing whales basking offshore. Close to the restaurant as if they were waiting for a table ! Brilliant….
The drive .. restaurant..whales etc was a bonus ending to our trip .. Need to start saving already.. Flicks comes recommended. - AndreeaSweden13 contributionsWe were recently at Bouchard Finlayson celebrating our honeymoon.
Their Hannibal wine was the first we had on our first abroad trip together and we promised we’d have our honeymoon there just to experience it on the location!
Caroline went above and beyond to make our celebration special! We had a beautiful wine tasting in their private cellar, and they even had flowers prepared for us and an incredibly generous gift box!
We are forever grateful for this wonderful experience!!!Written January 25, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
