A very interesting museum, David was our well informed guide and we learnt much about the fascinating history of the diamond mining industry.

A small museum that requires a lot of reading to get the full story but is worth it for the sense of culture and the historical photographs. The museum contains a number of photographs and testimonials that describe the people and culture of the area. The area was neglected by the government for a number of years and had degraded to a bit of a crowded slum. The government essentially leveled the area over a number of years – dismantling the neighborhood and sending the population to different townships. To this day the area is mostly open space and considered “salted earth”.

We started in Johannesburg, and then we drove from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, stopping in the main attractions/parks and staying in different cost cities. We also visited the cities around Stellenbosch (wine region). The trip took approximately two weeks.
South Africa is a vey nice country, mainly for its beautiful nature and friendly people. Prices are also fair. The only minor concern is regarding the security in its big cities, but it’s not different from what I see in my own city (Rio de Janeiro). Just need to be alert in some areas.

We spent a morning here. The centre was spotlessly clean, well lit. The centre is really big with an abundance of shops.

Personally I really liked the olde time decor throughout the interior looked really good.

    Really enjoyable experience.

My husband is an artist and sculptor and will always enjoy a gallery visit and I am happy to accompany him. What made this visit so good was the tour and talk by the in house art historian Rory.
With an encyclopaedic knowledge of the building and the art he kept the group captivated for an hour. If you visit the gallery do attend the tour.
The building is the star attraction and as an old granary seeing the roof where the old silos where is fascinating. The cafe is great food and good value.

We had a lovely time at the Heart of Cape Town museum.
Our tour guide Cindy was very engaging and brought it to life for us.
I am really pleased that such a monumental achievement has been honoured by this museum.

Mainly a natural history museum with a planetarium. Good place to spend an afternoon (we were there on a windy rainy day) and contains some updated and modern exhibits about human evolution and the local wildlife. The more ancient part of the museum is a collection of stuffed specimens that are only remarkable for the size of the exhibits vs modern day examples and a sense of old history.

We went to learn the history of Cape Town and the Jewish experience. We wanted to learn about the diamond and gold mines. We got a very nice understanding of the Jews in South Africa and Johannesburg. They are aliened.

This place has a wealth of information pertaining to the slave trade in South Africa. It’s generally well done but the information flow could be improved. Things aren’t always in chronological order. The plaques on the well towards the end are particularly annoying. The top and bottom sections read right to left while the middle section reads left to right, it’s impossible to follow in order. They should re-do that sections completely.

Overall I thought it was very good but could be much better with a little reorganization.

A beautiful cathedral. We visited for the Christmas day service. The liturgy and music were fantastic. The archbishop gave a great sermon. Would recommend.

The center is big and provides different sizes of room. The main issue is probably the limited number of café and restaurants.
The centre is on two floors and (very) long. Keep this in mind when moving from one room to the other.
