What travelers are saying
- Wikus MPort Edward, South Africa21 contributionsWhat a pleasant surprise. We went as family for a picnic and game drive. The roads are well marked and the picnic area is neat and clean. The restrooms at the picnic spot could be better but other than that I cannot fault the reserve. The cheetahs gave us a spectacular show with them just lying next to the road and we could probably get within 20meters from them.Written August 14, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Moyahabo B1 contributionWe did the animal encounter with the Lion walks. I really enjoyed it. The Crew is soo friendly, from stepping in and the last step I felt so welcomed. The Lion walks stood out, its scary at the beginning but enjoyable as it goes. Love it Love Horse Back definitely going back for more.Written April 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Phila DJohannesburg, South Africa1,113 contributionsGreat hiking trail with great scenery. The place is brilliant to visit.
Down size are the random people on the trail with speakers and Los music.

The good.
Animals. Five stars.
Wife and I visited this week. Animal species represented are a vast number. So many to see. Beautifully laid out exhibits with animals from around the world. Enclosure with Eland is so impressive.
The bad.
Staff. Two stars.
Unfriendly. Not welcoming.
The ugly.
Food. 0 stars.
What you served was garbage. Absolute crap.
We ordered chicken sandwich and Chicken legs with fries.
Chicken sandwich. Blah. Dry. Old product.
Fries. Tasteless. Soft. Disgusting.
Chicken legs. Dry. Stunk. Old product.
Stop serving this garbage.
Johannesburg Zoo Food is superb, in comparison.
Rated Zoo 4 stars because of animal collection and display. Had to take 1 star off for mediocre staff and trash you serve as food.Written September 28, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are different hikes to do and much to see - we did the 5km one in about 2 and a half hours. The hike is relatively easy with some spots requiring good leg strength! There is a little restaurant on the property as well and their pricing is good. Bathrooms are available. The drive there is simple enough with a GPS and does require you to take a short dirt road. Cars with lower clearance / that are not 4x4’s will make it - there is also adequate parking space. I definitely recommend going to visit if you’re wanting to experience a nice hike. You do go between the bush as well so it’s not all just flat. The cable car thing is fun to ride - make sure to bring something for the operator who stands there all day helping you use it.Written May 8, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BOFA BOYBridge of Allan, UK1,410 contributionsThought the whole experience was very good, although some of the exhibits could have done with more lighting to let people see more clearly what was on offer. The building itself is quite spectacular.Written January 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- MOSLEastern Cape, South Africa730 contributionsWhat an amazing experience!! We spent four hours here and shared wonderful family time.Words cannot describe this beautiful rose farm! It was busy but I assume it is because the roses are in full bloom now and the rose show is also on.
We enjoyed the tractor ride, Rose Kitchen and the shop. Rose produce very tasty. The rose exhibition in the venue is very well done!
My highlight was the beautiful roses plants and bouquets everywhere and Ludwig’s and Helmar’s interaction with all the guests. A wonderful, personal experience!

- debradugganLondon, UK3 contributionsSuch an incredible experience to see people who truly love their animals. Not only that but seeing the very rare Zonkey and the magnificent lions and elephants. - StephaniePretoria, South Africa3 contributionsI had the privilage to be at the Spa on Saturday and when we got there, we had a wonderful breakfast, the staff sang to us and then we received 2 treatments from the nicest therapists. I had a full body massage and a leg and foot massage. The surroundings are so beautiful and peacefull. The owner and manager are both lovely people and so friendly. I’ll just have to go back on another occasion for some more…Written March 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 007BGDRandburg, Gauteng, South Africa3 contributionsWhat an amazing place. Beautiful trees, birds, forest, stream, koppies and natural pool and only just over a pleasant hours drive from Johannesburg but the pool area and surrounds is marred by broken glass, bottle tops and stompies lying all over the place and this was on Saturday morning before the weekend day visitors had arrived. Even the private boma had not been cleaned and had empty bottles lying around. The toilets where you climb the wooden stairs from the camping area were dirty and upswept and had no toilet paper. Come on guys you have a fabulous place -.clean up properly and look after it - don't let it get run down.Written November 14, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lizzy LFolkestone, UK6 contributionsMy heart is here with Sue! The definition of charity and real no frills living. Covid has made everything harder of course but the furry residents are put first as always. If interested in animal care you can't get more hand's on than this. See international_primate_rescue insta. Hard work required but the best experience ever.
I've been going for nearly 10 years.... True animal lovers won't want to leave!
As per previous review, most animal sanctuaries use porridge and supplements so please don't listen xxWritten May 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
