We stopped at the visitor center and had a nice chat with the ranger there. We were convinced to take the 26 mile and 25 minutes extra drive through the park. It was really nice and we had some good stops to see the petrified wood.

This was such a cool experience! Highly recommend stopping by. Family run, lots of cool pieces to choose from, and very reasonably priced. Came to grab a couple pieces of petrified wood, left with a bucket 🤣

An amazing old courthouse that was in use until 1979. You can see the judge's chambers and library, the jail, and a museum area. It's a beautiful old building with staff who are very knowledgeable about the area. Do not miss the change to sit 'on the bench' in front of an amazing Navajo rug.

We decided to do the Petrified Forest National Park as a last minute add to our Grand Canyon trip. Glad we did.
The Vista point with the rusted car was really cool and one of the many great stops at the National Park.

The Blue Forest Trail is a wide open area, with the route more of a suggestion than a standard trail. Get the printed directions with photos at the Visitors Center, but the AllTrails app shows a slightly different route including a walk through a slot between the mounds. (Don't do this if it's wet.) Expect to see few other hikers, if any.

Weather is very important. It can be windy, and there are narrow places where you might worry you'll lose your balance and take a significant fall.

Avoid this trail if you have a fear of heights. If you're okay with them, it's great!

My wife and I have visited this store on three occasions. It's a wonderful place browse and shop, with every step revealing new, interesting and fairly-priced items to consider. If I lived in that area instead of NYC, I imagine I'd find myself in the store once a month (or more). I have several items I've purchased there and am sure I'll eventually end up with more. Incidentally, when we visited we were free to wander about the store without a single moment of sales pressure. This is one fabulous place to see and shop.

We stopped in to check out the Painted Desert Indian Center on a recent visit to Petrified Forest Nat'l Park. The outside is entertaining and has a lot of old Route 66 type kitsch. The shop itself has a nice selection of a variety of are-specific items like Turquoise jewelry, polished/processed rocks, and petrifired wood and more. It was a nice visit.

This is your typical souvenir shop in the West. We went in looking for agates and geodes for my niece who makes jewelry. Found exactly what were were looking for at prices in line with all of the other places we stopped. Asked for a restroom and was told that the well was not working so the restrooms were closed but from other reviews it looks like they have no public restrooms.

In keeping with the Route 66 theme, there are a number of kitschy gift shop stores at the southern entrance/exit of PFNP. Which one you visit is entirely up to you. However, this one may have the single funniest picture from PFNP. Check it out.
