What travelers are saying
- Jane Z1 contributionThe Five Great Avenues located in the center area of Tianjin. It is the most complete architectural complex of foreign buildings preserved in China so far, and is called the World Architecture Expo Garden of China. Many great men in history have also lived here. For example, Gu Weijun (First diplomat of the Republic of China. He was a member of the Chinese delegation to the Paris Peace Conference and the Washington Conference after the WWI), Xu Shichang ( served as president of the Republic of China), Liang Qichao (a member of China’s modernist reformers), Zaizhen (Qing dynasty clan, the last Qing Prince), and American President Herbert Hoover. Although some of the residences are now closed to visitors, there are still many of the most famous buildings you can visit and take photos of. If you really interested in this kind of building, take a stroll along the Hai River and you may find more.Written June 6, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traveller_OldieEast London, South Africa268 contributionsTypical tourist area with many different shops. Due to the virus we were probably the only Western tourists there. Many shops closed, but still worth a visit.Written June 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- GrannyLondonLondon35 contributionsWe visited from our cruise ship docked in Tianjin port. 3 hour drive but worth it. Had the section almost to ourselves. - Marissa KetsiaJakarta, Indonesia52 contributionsThis mall is very big and clean! Ran into inside the mall because it was 38 degrees out there in Tianjin! My friend and I had refreshing desserts at Honeymoon Desserts, taste really good! Then I did my hair done at MQ Studio Salon, the stylists seems pretty good with the technique! After I got my hair done we went to The Green Party, it’s a store where selling cute stuff with affordable price, good for souvenirs!!Written July 1, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrandonNgSingapore, Singapore164 contributionsThis place looks so different in the day and at night. It is definitely worth to take a stroll in the area at night as the view is just so beautiful. There is mixed of old and new buildings along the river and you will find yourself appreciating the beauty. How could 1 city integrate old and new culture in such a modern city.Written December 8, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - cdemmaMelbourne, Australia66 contributionsFree entry, just like all Chinese museums as far as I know. Not a big museum but plenty of treasures to appreciate and learn about background. If you come on a right day, there are guides around to explain the history and stories surround the exhibition items. The place is always quiet, unless it's during the public holiday period.Written February 11, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Filipe RBraga, Portugal55 contributionsIn the photo we can see the most prestigious alumni of Nankai, Premier Zhou Enlai. Mr. Zhou Enlai is an outstanding alumnus of Nankai University and an admirable premier of China. Carved in white marble, the statue of Premier Zhou stands upright in the southern square of the Main Building. The statue is three meters high, standing on a two-meter-high stone base. It is a masterpiece of two famous sculptors in China, Mr. Fu Tianchou and Mr. Gu Jiarui. In the front of the stone base is the famous motto of “I Love Nankai University”.Written March 9, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Traveller_OldieEast London, South Africa268 contributionsIt is one of the main attractions in Tianjin and quite unique. Worth the visit and the entry fee, but certainly not everyone style. Lots of old furniture inside displayed in some random way, but still worth to visit.Written June 7, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Simon PToulouse, France394 contributionsI guess winter is not the best time to visit this park, but nevertheless it is a relaxing oasis in the city. The channels and main pond were covered in ice, so the boats are not operating. In spring and summer the park will look beautiful with all the greenery in full bloom, but it’s a bit bare in winter.Written February 17, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pttbwDanbury, UK284 contributionsThe Astor Hotel is open to non residents for tea or coffee etc in the Victorian Lounge and for a small fee you can visit their private museum which gives a fascinating insight into the history of the building since 1863 but also of the various European concessions that traded in NW China in the late 19th century. Well worth a visit. We were fortunate to get a guided tour from the sole member of staff in the museum.Written September 29, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
