The small gift shop is well stocked and has some excellent maps of the Kenai Peninsula.
After going through the Visitors Center and then seeing the vendors, take a nice stroll from there through Old Town.

There is a great gift shop next door which is associated with the Saint Nicholas Chapel, which is also owned by this church.
It is in the OLD TOWN and there are other charming old buildings to explore as well.

The day before in Talkeetna, I learned that my most favorite Alaskan nectar, "Ice Axe Ale" is brewed for the Talkeetna pub by Kenai River Brewing only at KRB they call it "Gummi Bear."
This was my favorite brewery in Soldotna, super friendly staff, great Beer, and very affordable.

We HIGHLY recommend Andrew if you are considering a fishing trip on the Kenai river for your next vacation to Alaska.
Great morning of fishing; my husband and I so enjoyed Andrew's skills and the fun conversations with he and his friend James.

Also, make sure and take the time to walk along the trails and boardwalk - they have obviously taken great care to expose visitors to the surrounding area and the Kenai River.
The volunteers are extremely knowledgable, we spent a lot of time there and gathered lots of information.

The Soldotna Historical Society & Museum is a must see place to learn about old Alaska and what it was like to settle here in the early days.
Soldotna is a young town and the volunteers/guides are very knowledgeable.

Their gates are usually closed to keep the moose out (moose love berries, too!), so don't assume the tasting room is closed just because the gates are!

Jim was very personal and helpful throughout our fishing trip plus he had a radio on board which he asked if we were comfortable about to listen to music while fishing.
We were fishing mid Oct. Ends up the river is all flooded up and has a lot of mud in it.
