Our trip to this glacier was amazing and well worth it. We had layers on layers to keep warm. Great photos and what a wonderful way to see nature at its finest.
We just loved the sight and atmosphere.

I stayed in Juneau a couple of days and started early to head to Mendenhall on the City Bus. The bus is $2 each way and takes maybe a half hour or so to get to the drop off point, which then is an easy and pretty mile and a half walk on a paved trail to the visitor center area.
The trail to the falls is another mile walk, then you walk it all back, but if you are in reasonable shape and have good shoes you should be okay. Have some water and snacks secured in a bag.
I also brought a small portable, foldable camp stool/seat in my bag that I used at the falls, so I could sit and look and enjoy in a bit more comfort, which I recommend.
When I arrived at the visitor center, there was hardly anyone, on my way back, there were 5 buses and more on the way, and the trails and overlooks were filling up, so go early!

Having never been near a glacier in real life, we didn't really know quite what to expect but as we came round a bend in the road in our tour bus and it was pointed out on the left, it was an incredible site. The blue hues of the ice against the sun were stunning and we were lucky to have been there on a day when it was not raining. There is a visitor centre and walks to view points so some great photo opportunities. We went as part of an excursion from our cruise ship so had a limited amount of time. So beautiful!!

This museum is a gem! It is a great place to visit and learn about the are before and after Alaska became a state. So much information, but presented in such a way that it was not overwhelming. A must visit!

We decided to walk the trail up to Mount Roberts and take the gondola down. We walked from the ship port, the trail was well signed posted up until we passed over a bridge then unfortunately the trail was obscured by parked cars, we ended up walking to the perseverance trail so we knew we had gone too far, we had to back track. We asked for directions and got on the Mount Roberts trail, be sure to keep an eye out for the path we were not the only ones that missed it that day.
Once on the trail it is 2 miles of steep inclines along rugged uneven terrain. I am not an experienced hiker, nor in great shape and I found it challenging, but worth it when you got to the top. Wear proper hiking boots as it is muddy near the top even on a dry warm day. If you are fit and a regular hiker it’s probably a breeze. Allow yourself 2 hours if you are slower like me but the trail says an hour and half is typical.
Gondola ride down allowed for great views.

We were really looking forward to this visit off the cruise ship to this glacial garden. The entrance promised much with lots of upturned trees with flowers and the history behind why they are as they are. We then got into a buggy and were driven up some steep and windy paths with a very competent and knowledgeable driver who made us feel safe and really knew her information about the rainforest and all its surroundings. Not so much colour on the trip up and down but there were some lovely ponds with planting around. Lovely greenhouse back at the entrance with a gift shop and a coffee shop too. We enjoyed it!

Religious or not, this is a beautiful and peaceful spot worth the stop. Bonus, we caught the salmon spawning in the creek!

Juneau is packed when Cruise ships are in port, however a stop here for a beer is definitely worth it. Quaint brewery with some great beer selections. The Alaskan Amber Ale was our favorite. Lots of history here also.

I hiked this by myself (25 y/o F) and felt very safe. Bring bear spray, bring a bear bell, bring plenty of cold weather gear regardless of weather when you set out. Bring more water and food than you think you'll need, and download this route on the AllTrails App (it's free). Alaskan wilderness is no joke. The walk up to this trailhead takes you through some of the oldest and most majestic, cozy parts of Juneau. The trail itself is 5ish miles, and gorgeous. *lush* beyond belief, looks like Hawaii. This is a *must do* when in Juneau. It is rated "challenging" but I would rate it a level below that. You need proper shoes. Do not ever navigate off the trial, there are many mineshafts that you can fall into. There were not many steep drop offs at all, it was very doable.

Nice fountain of a whale. Pretty views, also has some totum polls . Has a public restroom that was clean. We did this as part of a city tour.

I believe we paid $5 to enter. There aren’t many artifacts but we loved the video about the gold rush in Juneau. Short of the video there wasn’t much to see.

Eagle Beach is in a beautiful spot......and yes, it has lots of eagles:-] I couldn't find much information, before booking one of their three State owned cabins so this might help others. They are all heated by kerosene stoves, which work great and you have to bring your own camping pad or mattress. The main differences between the cabins, in my opinion, is the view you get from each cabin. The Saturday Creek cabin is closest to the mouth of the river and has the best views of mountains and eagles. The Berry Patch cabin is also by the river and also has nice mountain views. but a little further away. The Martin cabin is in the woods away from the river so it has no views....except trees :-] The Saturday Creek and Berry Patch cabins will have people walking by a lot and the Martin cabin is more private.

I've probably walked past this statue several times over the many years of my visits to Junesu
So glad I stopped and read the placards regarding this wonderful dog who was deaf and met all the ships coming into town, great history behind this dog who died in 1942.
