All the pearl shops we have gone to in the past were closed. We were fortunate to find SAB open for business! A beautiful smiling face greeted us at the door - merci, Anais! We did not want something too "fancy" so that I could wear it more than on special occasions. SAB had many lovely items to choose from (and a few that were breathtakingly but on my dream list: sapphire flower set). However, we found exactly what I wanted with Anais's assistance! Also, she gave us precise guidance and explanation about the customs paperwork. It was easy and went smoothly at the airport. Thank you so much for a lovely experience, Anais. We will be back in Mo'orea in a couple of years and will stop in again!

True to the reviews, Peter was an excellent source of knowledge on pearls, the process, the grading, and colors. This is also one of the few shops on the island that offer a 14K gold-filled option for some pieces of jewelry, which was excellent because of our relatively small budget. We were able to select some loose pearls with Peter's daughter who was very patient with all of our questions and gave us recommendations on the colors/ luster/ size of the pearls. She was very straightforward which helped in our decision-making process. We left with two beautiful and affordable pearl necklaces! Both Peter and his daughter were willing to open the shop at varying times of day (and on Easter!) for us, which we were really grateful for.

- Guy T25 contributionsDon't miss this shop with original designs of pearl jewelry, interesting T-shirts, souvenirs, and beautiful pareo. The quality of the pearls, as well as the creative designs at this woman-owned shop where the owner designs and makes the jewelry herself, made this shop stand out from the many others on Moorea. Nancy is also a lovely person. I had been carrying around a picture of a pearl necklace on my phone since 2016. On our last day on Moorea, we stopped in and I showed her the picture. In about 20 minutes, she helped me choose my pearls (which are way better quality than I imagined they could be), tweaked the design slightly to make the pearls more secure, and I walked out with a necklace I've been wanting for a very long time! Every other shop I visited from Fiji to Tahiti simply tried to sell me something they already had. Our friends purchased a stunning necklace of Nancy's original design as an anniversary present. Being in French Polynesia for the first time, we were a little overwhelmed with the amount of selection that all the jewelry stores had with their pearls, but we can confidently say that Pearlescence had the most unique and appealing collection. It was also a 2 minute walk from the Sofitel which made it very convenient.

I bought 4 of her paroes and I would have loved for one of her dresses to have fit me. My stunning Peacock Pearl & diamond ring arrived this week from Tahiti! I’m thrilled with the luster of the Pearl and shimmer of diamonds surrounding it. When I look at my pearl I see the beautiful lagoons and lush jungles of French Polynesia! Even though we couldn’t visit the islands this year, Mat with Tahia was able to find the perfect match to the peacock Pearl pendant I purchased last year!
I was devastated that my husband and I couldn’t travel to French Polynesia this year because of the global pandemic. But..... I was fortunate enough to have a Tahia Exquisite Tahitian Pearl shipped directly to me!
The ring took just a day to clear customs in LosAngeles before it arrived the next day in Atlanta. Mat at Tahia worked diligently with me for many months via email. I photographed my pendant and he looked up the record of our purchase in 2019. He found exactly the perfect peacock pearl and a ring was made to be a set! Mat was very patient and knowledgeable. He emailed me many pictures of the ring and gave me all the details of pearl size, luster, quality, diamond carats etc... I was hesitant to buy fine jewelry via email and photos. But due to COVID-19 our trip to Tahiti and BoraBora this year was unfortunately cancelled. Lucky for me, my husband did the next best thing and got me a Tahia Exquisite Tahitian Pearl for Christmas!!
Thank you to Mat and the Tahia team for making sure I got exactly what I wanted. They made it an easy transaction, shipped it out quickly, then tracked it all the way to my doorstep. My Tahia Pearl fine jewelry set is the highlight of this very difficult year!
