Great Marble Carving and architecture from France and Spain incorporated into the making of this fine building where the aristocrats gathered back in the earlier century. Now everyone can enjoy the building today since inly the wealthy could afford to attend events at this one of a kind back in the day.

The plaza itself is worth a visit, but do be sure to also walk down the pedestrian walkway. As you continue walking, you can find some beautiful historic buildings (turn right down another pedestrian only walkway after leaving Palza de Cultura). There are a number of small cafés and eateries to try all around the area. Do not go at night. By day, just be cautious as you would in any large city.

Jen our tour guide was great and extremely informative! We saw some many different birds, insects and trees. The best part was seeing the baby sloth. The university campus is beautiful as well.

I've gone in a couple of times for a few minutes of contemplation and prayer, for those who want a respite from the busy streets of San Jose. It's not one of the grand cathedrals of the world but pleasant nonetheless. I found it a nice way to give thanks and centre yourself amidst all the hustle and bustle.

We went for the World Cup Qualifier between the US and CR. Not only was the architecture of the stadium beautiful, but also the atmosphere was one of the best I've experienced. The upper corner where we sat still offered great views.

We stopped in a little before noon on a weekday and a service was underway. We didn’t stay long but were able to see the beautiful stained glass windows.

We walked through the park because it was right next door to the Metropolitan Cathedral and we wanted a picture of us with the SJO Vive sign. Otherwise, there wasn't much to see here. Plenty of people, locals and tourists both.

Worth to pass here (on the way to the markets), the building is absolutely impressive and reminds us of the time before email and package delivery services. You do not have to go inside as there is nothing to see (at least not without any specific permission). The place in front invites to stay a moment for peoplewatching or the like.

Nice assortment of typical shops and restaurants that you would expect in a city Chinatown. Very nice park with statue of John Lennon across from a beautiful church that is worth visiting! Rated a 3 because many of the businesses seamed closed? However, worth a walk through

This is the burial site of the famous and well to do in Costa Rica. It features many ornate tombs and beautiful statues
There is a large sign inside the cemetery that marks a suggested pathway to many of the more famous tombs. The attendants were very friendly and helpful. Signs are posted at the more famous sites in Spanish. There are paved paths and lots of space and time to wander.

Worth a stop en route to the markets. A busy street with lots of cars - walking may we’ll be quicker than a cab. Sculptures are a good interesting distraction to walk around.

25 Minutes by bus from Calle 8 in San José to the last Filtros bus stop at Alajuelito. From there it took me 2 hours to hike up to the Cross (Cruz de Alajuelita). Besides a big metal cross at the summit of the hill there is a plaquette that reads: Cerro San Miguel 2036m. I do not know at what altitude the last bus stop is (perhaps at around 1400m) and at a distance of about 4 km from the summit.

The route is not always marked, but there are lots of locals around to help you find the way. It is not complicated. The road goes up and a certain point also down again, which maybe confusing but at the bottom there is a small trail up again. There are two subsummits with Crosses as well. The third and tallest one is at the top from where you have superb view over the Central Valley with San José right down in front and volcanoes in the background.

Located in a stunning park in downtown this edifice apparently has great acoustics but only had a single person on their phone when we went by. The park is well maintained and clean with no sign of homeless folks hogging all the benches. Indeed San Jose has many downtown parks that have huge and wonderful trees and vines.

I heard opera at 5 pm raining over San Jose and knew I had to go inside. Once inside I listened to old Latin records, watched a free dance class, ate and drank to my hearts content and will be coming back to listen to Jazz this weekend. One visit wasn’t enough

There is a huge variety of shop s, street sellers as well as cafes and restaurants in this pedestrianised area. While walking along there is a fantastic opportunity to people watch.
