This is a short but interesting & informative tour. A good history & social explanation of Costa Rica.
The actors are very entertaining. Tour takes about 45 minutes. Only one English tour per day. Our tour was at 10am.
You can visit the lobby & coffee shop without taking the tour.

While in San Jose, my husband and I stopped here. It's open to the public for free; however, donation boxes are around if you choose to donate. It's a clean, beautiful church. My husband was disappointed to find out that the pipe organ is not in use.

This is the main square of San José with some huge shops and the national theatre. There is not that much to do, but it is good to see and I recommend a tour in the theatre.

This beautiful building currently is or perhaps was in the past, the main Post Office (which is government). Stunning piece of work.

Jen our tour guide was great and extremely informative! We saw some many different birds, insects and trees. The best part was seeing the baby sloth. The university campus is beautiful as well.

Went to see the women's U20 World Cup and especially to cheer on Canada. We were able to purchase touchline tickets for only $10 (USD) and had an amazing view of the game. Only problem was that this stadium has a capacity of about 35,000 and there were only about a thousand people in the stands, mostly families of the players. I'm sure that with the right crowd, the atmosphere would have been stellar.

It’s a busy spot to sit and people watch. A few statues, the gazebo and busy shopping streets around it. Benches for sitting and garbage cans for litter.

Worth a stop en route to the markets. A busy street with lots of cars - walking may we’ll be quicker than a cab. Sculptures are a good interesting distraction to walk around.

This is the burial site of the famous and well to do in Costa Rica. It features many ornate tombs and beautiful statues
There is a large sign inside the cemetery that marks a suggested pathway to many of the more famous tombs. The attendants were very friendly and helpful. Signs are posted at the more famous sites in Spanish. There are paved paths and lots of space and time to wander.

I admire the wooden ceilings, stain windows and colorful walls of this church. On both sides of the Main Altar are two smaller ones with religious statues. The sidings, floorings, balusters , organ, etc remind me of some beautiful churches that I have visited in Europe.

Since no mass was going on during my visit, I was able to discreetly take some pictures. I said my prayers before leaving.

Note: There is a small park located in front of this beautiful church

The little temple of music is interesting and sits in a small well maintained park. It is in downtown San jose. Great design!

Went here on my first night in San Jose on the advice of my hktel because I was told there would be lots of bars and restaurants here and plenty of choices.
There were. But not all were open. Those that were were pretty nice without being anything special and the prices were far higher than in the town centre.
Nevertheless it was a safe and pleasant place to eat and have a beer and meet fellow travellers. Not a bad option.

I heard opera at 5 pm raining over San Jose and knew I had to go inside. Once inside I listened to old Latin records, watched a free dance class, ate and drank to my hearts content and will be coming back to listen to Jazz this weekend. One visit wasn’t enough

25 Minutes by bus from Calle 8 in San José to the last Filtros bus stop at Alajuelito. From there it took me 2 hours to hike up to the Cross (Cruz de Alajuelita). Besides a big metal cross at the summit of the hill there is a plaquette that reads: Cerro San Miguel 2036m. I do not know at what altitude the last bus stop is (perhaps at around 1400m) and at a distance of about 4 km from the summit.

The route is not always marked, but there are lots of locals around to help you find the way. It is not complicated. The road goes up and a certain point also down again, which maybe confusing but at the bottom there is a small trail up again. There are two subsummits with Crosses as well. The third and tallest one is at the top from where you have superb view over the Central Valley with San José right down in front and volcanoes in the background.

Plaza de La Artes is very interesting and the backdrop of the church is really nice. A number of different statutes dotted around.
