A must visit for authentic restaurants and open air markets for produce, fish, meats etc. souvenir booths too. Crowded aisles but you get a sense of local shopping and food. Had wonderful lunch there . With lunch and strolling we spent about an hour. Local ice cream was great. No admission fee

The vendors are a little pushy but you'll find some good stuff here as there is a wide variety. Your typical Costa Rican souvenirs but also handmade local artist stuff.

A cut above the usual tourist curios. Very helpful salesman (Irishman from Quebec living in San Jose) who went over the collection and took the time to explain the objects. Great range in prices from small gifts to major art work. Not far from all the museums in San Jose, worth the trip

Lovely home made things sale. Good food, free range eggs, cheese etc. Not enough tables....almost felt like turf war trying to secure one. A good strategy is to buy food you can eat and walk with or get a table first and send partner to buy food. The market also felt homey in a very busy city away from home country. Some weekends are better than others. The breads looked incredible!!

This is a medium size mall located near the town of Moravia, to the north eastern side of San José. It has stores, cafés, restaurants, services, banks, a supermarket and a food court along with cinemas, all distributed across 4 floors. The stores are somewhat expensive, although you might find good prices sometimes. Bathrooms are located far from the food court and the restaurants, which is uncomfortable sometimes. It is connected to San José by bus lines of Moravia. Is a good place to walk around in a rainy day.

Nice food court, many shops from big brands to shop business. You can find sort of everything in here. Tons of accessories for phones.

Went here on my first night in San Jose on the advice of my hktel because I was told there would be lots of bars and restaurants here and plenty of choices.
There were. But not all were open. Those that were were pretty nice without being anything special and the prices were far higher than in the town centre.
Nevertheless it was a safe and pleasant place to eat and have a beer and meet fellow travellers. Not a bad option.

Now a small museum, this was the house of a previous president who was a medical doctor and social reformer of Costa Rica. Not a lot to see, but interesting for a few minutes and the Russian embassy is across the street.

It has a food court and stores. It’s a small/medium mall. There is nothing amazing.

I went there to see a movie.

Do you like contemporary art. Depending on the show you might like this place. It was free the day I went because only 2 rooms were open. I saw mostly video art. Check the website and if the show appeals it might be worth a look . But if this is not your thing skip it. The contemporary sculpture in the lovely nearby park is free and definitely worth a look. .

Must stop if you're looking for one of a kind artesian treasures. Note that they aren't open on Saturdays.

It turns out Chema's Bodega is in the process of moving to a new location, so the place is not operating daily. Call ahead of time if you're planning a visit! Next time I'm back in San Jose, for sure I will do the workshop. Thanks for the cold beer, Chema!

This store was so cute! I snagged some Christmas cards here. You can get some really cute paper goods- like cards and posters. Reminds me of a local style “Paper Source”

Loved this place. We bought multiple items. Such a nice shop. All the goods are made in Costa Rica. Unique finds from clothing to journals to mugs to baby clothes to toys to jewelry. Very nice store host. She did speak English as well. Felt like we bought quality merchandise. Highly recommend this place if you are downtown. Good restaurant just down the street La Criollita. You can reference my review there too.
