- FancyFelToronto, Canada27 contributionsVery nice. Went early so I don’t think we saw the full experience that can be offered later at night with music and such. Stayed at hotel with a kitchenette so this was a great place to get fresh fruits and eggs. Not really an environment to haggle but helps to know spanish of you aren’t paying in local currency to make sure your change is at proper exchange rate. Go if you need groceries. It’s behind the bus stop. Safe experience.Written March 25, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Eric C15 contributionsLots to learn about your spice rack! Vanilla, cardamon, cinnamon, allspice, peppercorn, clove, cacao. Walking tour was nice. Our guide very engaged and informative. Outlook and spice-flavored beverages was welcome and beautiful.Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anne WDeerfield, IL46 contributionsMy husband was doing his own thing this particular day, so I went into
the town of Quepos to observe the culture and the shopping there. I wandered into El O'scars Galleria and was warmly received by the owner, who also introduced me to his wife and son that were there. As soon as I walked in, he said, "Hello, Amigo!" As I was browsing there, others walked in and he said that "Monday was a good day to purchase art, and everything on the table was 20% off." I was admiring a small
painting on the wall and when I inquired as to its price, he said that it was $225.00. He said that he knew the artist, in fact he knew all of the
artists in his gallery and he himself painted and he showed me some of
his work, also. I hesitated and then he dropped the price down to $160.00, and then in minutes dropped it down to $140.00. There were two other smaller pictures by the same artist that I was thinking about and inquired as to their price. He said that they were $95.00, and he offered to call the artist regarding the larger picture to see if he would
drop his price even further. I said that I would have to think about it and would possibly come back later. Then he said how about $120.00 when I was exiting the gallery. I left and came back an hour or so later. He told me that he had called the artist and that I could have the one picture for
$120.00 I did not know how I would get it home and he offered to take it
off of the frame and roll it up for me. I then said that I would take the two
smaller pictures instead. He dropped the price for the two to $85.00. I intended to purchase them. I gave him my charge card and he said, "Oh,
for that price, I will only take cash. I did not have $85.00 cash on me nor
did I have my ATM card to procure cash, so I left without the pictures and
he did not make the sale. I would be leery to purchase art from him unless you make sure that you do not pay the original first asking price, and that you bring cash with you if you are seriously considering purchasing a piece of art work from his gallery. Nice enough guy...but he reminded me of a used car salesman, and I am not into playing the price is right game. If this doesn't bother you, go ahead and peruse his gallery but be prepared for "dealing."Written February 15, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Glad we did.
We are art fans more than collectors, so were interested in looking more than buying. But we ended up buying a poster and some cards.
Cute place with friendly staff - the rain brought is in but if you are in the area it is worth a stop whatever the weather.Written December 6, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was told she is moving to France so if you want something, go soon. I got a pillow cover with a hummingbird and an apron. I wanted to buy the whole store, because all items were appealing. Check it out.Written July 28, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- lummelsSan Francisco, CA89 contributionsCute spot for original Costa Rican-made items and other goodies. It's hard to find shops in Manuel Antonio that aren't peddling the same tacky items. Jungle Avenue has a variety of both locally-made items, and others from abroad, including jewelry, soaps, accessories, bags, and clothing. The clothing is made by the owner, and the style is upscale casual--sophisticated, but every day, and not pretentious.
The photos don't really show off the diversity of the inventory. Go check it out. They have on-site parking!Written June 23, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The cigars were delightful, the owner was very helpful and the humidor is well stocked with a nice variety of hand rolled beuties.Written December 15, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sandhya J1 contributionThanks to the owner Natalie, I actually enjoyed bathing suit shopping! She is sweet and knowledgeable about her merchandise. She helped me determine the qualities in a suit that are important to me and picked out items that were right in line with that. From her friendliness to the extra protective liners in the fitting room, I felt welcomed. On top of that, the bathing suits themselves were great quality! They were soft and snug, perfect for the Manuel Antonio waves and flattering to my body type. By the end, I felt good about my body and comfortable in my own skin! I don't normally leave reviews but I was so amazed by the experience, I just had to share!Written July 9, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jenny JWauwatosa, WI33 contributionsThis supermarket was only a few steps from our hotel and the park. Very convenient! We went to Joseth every day to get food for lunch or to get snacks. The woman in the back (Selene) who makes the sandwiches & smoothies is very friendly and accommodating! The sandwiches are fresh and tasty. My kids loved the smoothies. I gave the supermarket a rating of 4 instead of 5 only because the staff at the checkout were not very friendly.Written January 22, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Renee BBoston, MA70 contributionsWe drove by but spotted the sign for this shop at the last minute (thank goodness!) and asked our driver to turn around. Mark has exquisite taste and this boutique displayed a wide range of items to pique interest. We found several pieces of art that we will take home. Ask about packing items properly, Mark has good advice.Written October 15, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - startravelxDetroit, MI15 contributionsI loved this shop and spent quite a bit of $$. It was worth every penny. The owner is very kind and extremely gracious. She is incredibly talented as well, as most of the items for sale were made by her. She even made a point to double wrap my items so they would make it to Michigan safely (and they did!!!)Written March 20, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mythmageWeaverville, NC26 contributionsI was looking for some cigars to bring home, preferably cuban. The owner took some time and showed me some they made themselves, cuban style and cuban tobacco. The cigars were mild and flavorful.
