What travelers are saying
- Departure066198713122 contributionsBrilliant. We’re leaving back to San José and decided to briefly stop there. That stop was an eye opener to the magic story of chocolate. The guys there managed to craft a fast spell visit and cater the art to kids.
We come from Colombia and Switzerland, two countries too close to chocolate, and this visit shows us a wonderful perspective.
Will recommend this place without hesitation. Just a wonderful to understand details of what is it about natural life in the Americas.

I relished in the joy of swimming at this beach, which offers a remarkably serene and tranquil atmosphere. - Thomas GAmsterdam, The Netherlands1,499 contributionsThis was a nice beach close to Puerto Viejo with nice sand and a sea with very good waves! It was great, but take care; if there is a red flag, don't swim there! There are some nice places to get a nice coconut or some food.Written March 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Travel4FunNorfolk, NE93 contributionsWhile we only had a couple of tropical blended drinks at this place while we waited for our taxi driver, the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was a good reprieve to get off the beach and was clean and charming.Written March 26, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Regan T1 contributionLoved the long walk to the beach- saw iguanas and sand crabs along the way. The view on the beach is great! There's done sandy shore and rocky parts to climb. You can get to another beach on the right of v you wanted to take a walk. Riders on horses go by as a part of their tour experience. It was good. Didn't swim. Too much seaweed.Written April 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BeatrizPuerto Viejo de Talamanca, Costa Rica2 contributionsExcellent spot to buy unique gifts and souvenirs made by the artists and craft women and men themselves. All pieces are hand made. - Peaches1717Vancouver, Canada2 contributionsA friend and I went for a pedicure on my birthday. The pedicure was well done. Julia gave the best foot massage and really felt like I was getting the queen treatment. We were treated to a delicious, refreshing drink and fresh fruit. Left feeling relaxed and smiling. Would very much recommend.Written April 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- JJJ-BBB19 contributionsGreat informative, hands-on walk through an artisanal chocolate farm, located just behind the coffee shop/cafe that serves and sells it. The short hike up the lush green hill in back showed off the cacao trees and pods as well as a bunch of bonus wildlife sightings (sloth, poison dart frogs, toucans).
Demonstration of how the beans are harvested, fermented, and dried on-premises, roasted, ground, mixed and cooked -- in a farm building with a lovely view of the Caribbean coast. Tasting with around a dozen different varieties at the end before the walk back down. Our kids, 11 and 13, were kind of unsure about this activity but said afterward they had a great time. Very worth the couple hours, a nice walk, beautiful scenery, right off the main road with easy parking and great food at the cafe.Written April 16, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The ladies at the donation desk didn’t say anything even when we indicated we weren’t looking to go any further than that. We were unaware & unprepared to do the 1.5 hour trip beyond that. The 5-10 min walk to the viewpoint was all we had in mind.
I was happy to see that the donations were being used to improve the space for future visitors, but construction materials everywhere and blocked off trails dampened the experience a bit.
The rocks on the beach below were very sharp- sturdy footwear recommended. Enjoy!Written April 5, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
