The main draw for me was the old architecture, which is remnants from the French concession period. The local government has done a good job of preserving the buildings so that you can still get a flavor of how locals many decades ago.
There are plenty of eateries and coffee shops along the way. There are also shops selling paintings and other creative items.

Not really interested in expensive tea at that time!!! However, I have to admit it wow one of the better new built “ancient” town I have visited. The roofs rising out of the water looks super impressive, all of the buildings around, gardeners etc give a very good vibe too. Perfect place to visit to get a feel of original old Shanghai. There are antique shops, jewelry shops, Chinese attire shops, boutiques, souvenirs and cafes.
