An interesting complex with a lot of different sections. It's a working temple so as you tour round you will see people praying to Buddha and burning incense.

Buddhist temples in China are like cathedrals in Europe - the first one is exciting, the second one is interesting, and after that they all look the same. Jing'an is definitely worth a visit if you have not been to many temples. The architecture is beautiful, it is an active temple, and the location is very convenient being directly above a metro station named after it.

A very interesting temple with many Buddha statues, one more beautiful than the other! The day we visited it was free of charge. Totally worth a visit!!!

Enjoyed my visit to this temple. Really quiet. The biggest surprise was the tea-pot collection at the back of the complex. Beautiful! It’s well maintained

Unfortunately, the front lawn was under construction, which blocks the full view. Additionally, the gate & doors were not open for regular viewing, but I walked around the exterior to the best of my ability. It is my understanding there is Mass being held on Sunday mornings at 7:00 AM and Sunday evenings at 18:00, but I did not confirm as only learned after my visit. The exterior is rather grand and the grotto can be seen from the fence. The "gift shop" was open. It's worth standing in its presence. There is a tourist information booth to the right of the cathedral when walking down the lane to the front of the gate. The brochure is worth taking and was given to me in English. Easily accessible from Metro, walking, or Didi. Worth your time, if nothing else for a few moments of reflection - regardless of your religious beliefs.

It is really disappointing to climb up that hill and find the church closed. That’s what happened. The not so smart people here at TA refuse to publish this notification for some reason, so this is the second try, as I would have appreciated if someone would have told me.

Very zen atmosphere. Monks chanting made it even more beautiful. Built in 1320!!! A wooden temple. Amazing! Lovely to enjoy the architecture, the bell walkway, the canal, the pagoda, prayers in all halls.... perfect to spend half a day here.

This was a lovely temple. The white jade Buddha was different. I especially liked the reclining one in one of the side rooms.

Quaint. Kind. Peaceful. Reflective. A gem hidden in plain sight. One of the smaller temples in Shanghai, but it's sincere and worth a visit. Small entrance fee of 10 RMB, ticket counter to the left of the entrance gate.

The outside of building do have little Chinese elements, but still look like generic mosque that people usually identify with(squerish, dome, etc).
Inside the the mosque perimeter theres few sub buildings, with chinese elements doors n windows.
About Friday prayer time at least in winter, the Adzan is at 1pm, and starts with Tazkirah in Mandarin. The Sermon actually starts at 1:45~ and prayers at 5mins later.

This temple is a great place to explore the new reaction to old religions. The bronze doors alone are worth the trip to see. It is quite straightforward to get to this temple from Shanghai: Take the Metro Line 1 to Lianhua Road Station. Leave the metro station from the North Exit. Turn left and go south past the small office building administering the bus terminal. The bus you need goes to Zhujing (朱泾). The bus leaves from the third boarding stop south of the little office. The correct stop is marked with the characters 莲金专线, which are the name of the bus company. The bus will be labelled: 莲花路地铁站 ↔︎ 朱泾, which means Lianhua Road Station to/from Zhujing. The temple is located in Zhujing. If the bus has a conductor, you will need to say you are going to Zhujing. The fare will be ¥8 and the trip will take about one and a half hours. If the bus has a farebox the fare is ¥11 and the trip will take about one hour. In either case exact change is required. When the bus reaches the terminal in Zhujin, go out the east door of the bus terminal, turn north, cross the bridge, turn west at the first corner. The temple is about a ten-minute walk west. Take the same bus back, but towards Lianhua Road station (莲花路站). The bus likely leaves leaves from Gate 8.

The temple is quiet and secluded and easy to access. Staff and polite, helpful and welcoming. The highlight for my daughter was the koi carp pond and the opportunity to feed the fish. The temple buildings are well maintained and nice to wander around
