What travelers are saying
- citta1 contributionIt was a beautiful and breathtaking experience. Summer is a good time to visit. Visiting the sleeping Buddha mountain was a wonderful experience for me. It has now been placed on the cover of the bookWritten August 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Food Foodie FatakNew Delhi, India669 contributionsOne of best and most visited place in Darjeeling.
The way to Tiger Hill is fantastic. Full of Lush green Jungle all round.
It was rainy and windy season so our fun doubled.
It was fully surrounded by clouds so couldn't get kanchenjunga view. But still best place in Darjeeling.Written August 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Akshat KGurugram (Gurgaon), India106 contributionsGood view of Darjeeling from this place especially on a clear day.. the park is not that well maintained but worth a visitWritten June 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Akshat KGurugram (Gurgaon), India106 contributionsThe toy train will take you through Darjeeling roads to ghum.. stop at basatia loop for 5 mins and museum for 25 mins.
Museum is not that great
If you have ridden a toy train before you can miss this given the time and cost however if you want to take a feel of 100 year old engine ride then go for itWritten June 23, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I could not imagine, what a beautiful route it is. One should choose to go by this route to enjoy. 3-4 km road is damaged at Teesta. Overall very good road and natureWritten July 18, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Sabyasachi123Kolkata (Calcutta), India183 contributionsYou have to ride high rise roads for about 2 kilometers to reach this nice temple. If you visit Darjeeling you must see this temple.Written May 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- akghosalStoke-on-Trent, UK27 contributionsRode the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train/DHR) from Darjeeling station to Ghum (Ghoom) station for the steam joyride. It is quite an old fashioned railway in the sense that it is narrow gauge, still run by old steam trains (therefore making it a World Heritage Site) but it was a relatively enjoyable and pleasant experience for me and also unique in the sense that the railway follows the roadside for the most part (whereas most heritage railways I've been on run away from the roadsides). Also there were some bits where the mountains and hills were visible (although as it was quite foggy when I visited, most of the mountains were not visible though that didn't matter too much for me) and the stopover at Batasia Loop was also nice while at Ghum, I looked around the museum featuring the Railway's history. My only problems with the railway are that both Darjeeling and Ghum stations looked a bit run-down and somewhat poorly maintained while cleanliness of the train carriages could be better (though they were okay for the most part), so it would be useful if those are all addressed in the future, but otherwise, I enjoyed my experience of the Toy Train.Written May 9, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rsk MKottayam, India611 contributionsThe ride from the top og the mountain passing so high above tea plantations is an excellent experience. But compared to the cost, the location maintenance, staff behaviour and crowd management are so poor. The boarding locations on either end are too primitive to say the least. Access is so uncomfortable. No consideration for customers at all. But still may be worth considering the different opportunity. Plan for long waiting and queue. We lost half day for the 40 minute ridesWritten November 21, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- akghosalStoke-on-Trent, UK27 contributionsBeautiful gardens and waterfall right in the mountains on the outskirts of Darjeeling, despite the very steep/unsafe roads to & from there (was even a landslide towards the bottom). My only problem with the area was that there was some litter left on the roadside near the waterfall but otherwise, was such a stunning area.Written April 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Nickyban07Kolkata (Calcutta), India285 contributionsGood way to explain the process. Tea Tasting could be better if it's brewed just before tasting. Otherwise the taste doesn't come out in full.Written May 8, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Mallika RBengaluru, India105 contributionsThe experience is completely subjective. This is a small hamlet with nothing much to boast of and takes a few thousands to hire a cab from Kalimpong. Monastery and the small museum was closed due to COVID restrictions, road was ok, very few hotels with basic momo, thupka and tea staples.
Still we enjoyed every minute of the trip and the locales. The winding paths through Himalayan forests, the cold temperature and friendly locales was worth all the effort, time and cost in reaching there.Written April 28, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
