Gorgeous block prints, high quality bedding, blankets, dresses, kaftans, silk malas, pajamas, quilted bags, kanthas, scarves, etc etc etc - Mukesh and Mahesh are brothers that make the experience fun and also easy if you need anything shipped. Give yourself half a day to swim through the beautiful options - two stores across the road from eachother - go to both! They shipped it when we asked them to. The only glitch was that the carpet was held up at FedEx in Memphis because US Customs needed some additional information. But once we cleared up the problem, we received the carpet the next day. At first we expected a tourist trap, but, this is the real deal. Our guide - Sher Singh, brought us here. While there is no expectation to buy, the products are handmade and authentic, so be prepared to open your wallet. There are two floors of carpets, clothing and handicrafts. Their range of textiles was excellent! Cottons and silks, old and new, clothing and homewares were all nice quality and reasonably priced! Do yourself a favour and shop here without stress! We visited as part of a tour group and didn't have a long time there but I did manage to order a fantastic mandarin collar jacket and then a matching shirt. There was a choice of fabric and lining for the jacket. I went with light wool with a colourful paisley lining. We picked them up the next day and both fitted perfectly (I was measured up by a tailor at the shop) with the jacket looking stunning.
Worth a visit. Prices are much better than I would have paid at home. - Michael FJedburgh, UK22 contributionsA very interesting visit and demonstration. Rum and coke in the afternoon as carpets were brought out for us to look at. We did buy a rug, at a price we considered fair, and it was shipped home to us in Scotland exactly as promised, although we had to pay import tax prior to delivery and were dismayed to find that the price on the enclosed invoice was only one quarter of what we had actually paid. Their explanation when we contacted them was that they reduce the invoice price in order to keep down import tax. Plausible but fraudulent, we felt, and would have been better to warn of this at time of initial purchase.
