Its a very beautiful palace in the heart of the city, neatly maintained. Amazing wall paintings, pictures and antique stuff. It is a must visit place. They have proper parking space for vehicles. Entry fee is very nominal. It is open all days and they have one hour illumination of entire palace every Sunday 7-8 pm. Entry is free at that time (not inside the palace) and its a must watch.

Very well maintained and beautiful zoo. Wide variety of species are found here. Must also be proud that it is the oldest zoo in the country. Definitely recommended for children.

Visited the place enroute to Madekeri. We have to take diverted route of around 5 kms. The road stretch had some bad patches, but overall was fine they have a chargeable good parking area just opposite to the entrance. The monastery area was well maintained, the main temple area was very peaceful. They have a place where you can leave your slippers . There are shops that sell Tibetean products , snacks and food which could be explored

The temple towers 40m high and stands quite spectacularly above most other buildings. The tower at the entrance is the key element

It was one of the greatest experiences I ever had throughout my travel. The temple had a calm and a pleasant vibe. I suggest everyone to follow the maps for reaching the destination, as not many signboards have been placed.

My, the ashram has grown! It's been years since I stayed here last, but a friend of mine has been living there for a good 20 years now. Apart from the main ashram, there's a bonsai garden, the Vishwam Museum, and of course the very busy Venkateshwara temple and the Shuka Vana which is free, where hundreds of parrots, many of them rare, happily co-exist while in their natural environment; some of them would not mingle well.

I really do love the birds, and to see so many rare species together is a treat! I noticed that some tourist reviews from visiting the bird centre appear to misunderstand what Shuka Vana is: Shuka Vana is not a zoo or bird exhibit center.... it's actually a RESCUE CENTER for abused birds that were brought there in terrible condition when they arrived at the ashram, some barely alive. The birds are flying free in an aviary, except while they are still under care to heal from their conditions; a few who have deformities from abuse will naturally not heal fully. No one "clips their wings", like one tourist made assumptions of, but come from abused homes. Most of them have made a truly remarkable and full recovery and are very curious and playful animals! You will find some of the rarest parrots in the world here.

The Shuka Vana parrots are basically viewed by the ashram like little flying gods, and are very much adored by them and are very sacred animals. Some staff relied upon are hired from outside and if they misbehave it should not reflect the values of the ashram. If anything seems amiss, report it to the management.

The entry is free but people should really donate if they visit the place.... it helps to feed the birds and provide medical care for these beautiful, beautiful creatures who have disappeared from the rich natural Indian landscape decades ago due to pollution, exploitation and loss of habitat.
