What travelers are saying
- Connector43684459068Bengaluru, IndiaThis is an amazing temple with huge Golden Buddha and Stupa seen from far. The place is teeming with devotees. There is adequate parking space for tourist vehicles. There are also interesting statues of monks in line going to the temple which looks very attractive. There is a paid toilet facility here.Written January 3, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ZogusbogusBuckingham, UKIf you love nature this is far and beyond the best experience in Sri Lanka. An intimate exploration of a rich habitat with an expert guide. We did not feel like tourists, we were explorers. Poorna was so knowledgeable and passionate about the flora and fauna, we only wished we could have stayed longer and hope to return next year. Absolutely brilliant.Written January 16, 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- reins76Scone, AustraliaThis is a large, busy, wholesale fruit and vegetable market just off the main road.
We loved visiting- not to purchase (it is wholesale ie >5kg lots, not retail), but to look, and photograph.
It is a work environment so take care and take care not to get in people’s way.Written May 31, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It has more than 100 species of tropical plants including herbal plants. Rahula thero has worked hard to educate the public and government to protect this forest and rose quartz mountain. in 2001, declared Namal Uyana an archaeological reserve.
According to legend, Emperor Shah Jehan had used pink quartz from this mountain for the Taj Mahal.
you need to gear up for mountain hiking and take all kind of camera and equipment because it is great place to capture memorable pictures.Written July 9, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I would say this is probably a better climb through the jungle and then scramble up the rocks once you’ve past the Buddha. Not for the faint hearted that bit.Written September 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- profjoypcAlnwick, UKThis is a really wonderful small Buddhist Cave Temple which seems to be away from main tourist destinations. It is a short tuk tuk ride outside Dambulla on the A6 highway and is most definitely worth seeing. The small Temple is set in a cave and has beautiful decorative features and art work plus a huge statue of the Lord Buddha. One can climb higher up a flight of steps to the Stupa at the summit from where on a clear day you get absolutely stunning views over the countryside nearby including the Sigiriya Lion Rock. We were there alone and loved the place as it is so incredibly peaceful.Written February 2, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
