Love this old town one of the better ones to see in the balkans region.

Location is perfect near the sea, wonderful mixture of historical buildings, walls, citadel and lots more.

Really enjoyed the narrow lane ways, with shod and restaurants also worth exploring.

I real highlight of my time in Montenegro.

Nice ballerina statue to see not far from the old town area.

But for this statue think the best selling point is the view of the ocean and surroundings areas, very nice indeed.

Love these type of historical walls built many centuries ago to protect cities around Europe and balkans.

These walls are very formidable and certainly built to keep invaders out.

Take the walk along the walls very interesting and really nice views overlooking the ocean.

The structure (aka Fortress of St. Mary) dates to the 1425 era and was designed to prevent attacks from the sea. Everything needed would have been housed inside, everything. Original building construction is dated much, much earlier.

Its most recent use was during the occupation by the Austrian army during WW II for troops.

Supposedly, the chapel of St. Mary is somewhere in the citadel interior.

It’s the most famous and popular beach in Budva. It’s located very close to the Old Town, we went on the coastal path, which was very interesting. The sandy beach is very good for relaxing and swimming in the sea, but it was very crowded, because it was the high season. Perhaps next time we will come in October or May.

This nice Orthodox church is in the centre of the Old Town, near the Citadel. It has a rich decoration inside. There was a ceremony so we just popped in. It’s worth a visit.

The Saint Ivan Church was founded in the 7th century and the Bell tower was built later, in 1867 (it’s 36m). It’s so famous, one of the main landmark of Budva. It can be seen from almost everywhere. The church is rather simple outside but it’s very rich inside. It’s worth a visit.

Greats views, a bit crowded, but still spectacular. There’s a great walking trail among pine trees with the view of the sea.

I went here with my kids it was lovely and peaceful, tho quite a nail biting ride through the mountains. We had lunch and after that decided to go to the plunge pool for a swim. My husband swam over under the waterfall and he seemed to have disturbed a viper as when he swam back a deadly water viper came out, we quickly got out of the icy depths and climbed the ladder. It was a lovely place but scared us with the viper, would visit again just no plunge pool.

This museum was established in 1962 and housed prior excavation finds. But its biggest and most significant "contribution" (courtesy of the 1979 earthquake) was to provide the museum with a treasure trove of archeological finds (like 4,000) that eclipsed the earlier excavations.

This earthquake was a 7.0 monster.

Montenegro is a newbie by modern standards. It was in 2006 (16 short years ago) that it left Yugoslavia.

If you have time and some free Euros, (no credit cards, please) then do pay the museum a visit.

This monastery has such a beautiful location high in the hills above Sveti Stefan. We were there with a tour local tour guide for a private tour. This is monastery for ladies and has remarkable view of the Budva bay.

We loved the layout of the church, nice and spread out, while perched up with Seaview. There also were some bleachers there, as there seemed to be a show there later during the day.
