The trip was a bit quick because we arrived a bit late to the Palace although we didn’t have an appointment. But the place is very nice with super amazing sculptures and histories to see and to live. I definitely recommend going there if you ever plan a trip in Iași

Built it the early 1600's - 1639 was finished it is a very interesting architectural piece and one of the holiest of places amongst the churches of Romania.
It is built as mixture of architectural styles - there a gothic elements, Moldavian architectural elements, Arab/Moorish elements are also to be found in the mix and for those of you who've been to Dragomirna the stone masonry resembles a lot to the one of the Dragomirna monastery.
Visiting is free of charge and it was open in the Monday morning when we were there - the museum in the courtyard was obviously closed.
Inside the church the frescoes are beautiful, slightly smoked by the burning of candles and it was not that crowded as I would have expected.
The center piece is the Ostridge egg chandelier , but for me "le piece de resistance" was stopping at the tomb stone of King Alexandru Ioan Cuza - the first king of the united Moldavia and Walachia who was forced to abdicate the throne in feb 1866 and was exiled - died far from Romania in Heidelberg and his remains were reburied in Iasi in 1946 ... where his final resting place is to be found since.
Interesting place a lot of history - but remember it is also a place of worship so dress appropriately and try to not disturb those praying inside.
Overall when in Iasi , it does worth a visit.

The first botanical garden in Romania, founded by A. Fătu 166 years ago, was located in another place - 3 km away, southward. In 1963, a new, much larger botanical garden was created near the University. It is worth visiting Exotic flower greenhouses, a rose garden not only in summer but also until mid-autumn!

Opened in 1840 it is the oldest national theater in Romania. The building is beautiful in its own and is definitely worth a visit even if you are not going to see a play.
The building can be visit - but you need to arrive before 5PM , if there is no play that evening - and you can visit the interior - I was not able to do that ... somehow there were other venues and the theater was the last on pour list. Visiting is very pocket friendly in terms of price - just under 2 euros ... again if you are not buying a ticket for a play , when the price will be for sure different.
Very interesting - well maintained , architecturally interesting building for sure worth a stop for a few pics even if only from the outside.

For those who are Orthodox believers this is one of the holiest of places in Romania.
A big cathedral as the center piece - home of the relics of the Saint Parascheva - in Oct every year is a pilgrimage with 10th of thousands of people flocking to this place.
The main church is impressive - however in the summer when I was there it was very crowded - so I did not entered ... queuing up in times of Covid for 15-20 min it is not for me.
The smaller church - the old St. George church - it is also very interesting but it was closed.
Otherwise also the museum in the location could be interesting - but at the end of the day large groups were flocking there ... so I skipped that 1 also.
Interesting, impressive to a certain degree , still not the perfect experience.

On the outskirts of the EU lies Iasi, in Eastern Romania. This student-town is very interesting to visit for a day or 2. Make sure to visit the palace as well.

The church and the garden around it are nice. The best was the tour of the tower. As there is little tourism in November, we got a private tour. The nice lady told us a lot about the history of the monastery, nicely accentuated by historic remains and replicates. On top you have a very nice overview of Iasi.
We found it to be the best and most interesting sightseeing in Iasi.

Near the Dosoftei house and the Palace of culture in Iasi you shall find this small but very interesting church.
Built during the reign of Kind Stephen the Great in the period of 1491-1492 - it was refurbished through the ages - even on the interior the Romanian royal family was added on the walls.
Entrance is free of charge - but it is not open around the clock, so try to be there at reasonable hours - after 9:0 a.m. and before 6 p.m. for instance.
The frescoes inside are interesting but are covered in a layer of candle smoke - and like in the majority of orthodox churches in Romania there is a dim light so you need to really focus to see the items inside.
Overall very interesting - if you are in the area definitely worth taking a look.

A great place! A place where you can find peace, which makes you forget for a few moments of trouble, annoyance and that makes you come back as many times as you can.
The monastery is located in a slightly receding place, it is built on a hill, but that does not make us, the people we can not get there. It has a beautiful architecture that needs to be seen, you can also find out about the events in Iaşi's history.
Surrounded by nature and carefully groomed gardens, it is a place of refuge and relaxation. You get there, and you seem to have nothing, as if everything has been interrupted and nothing matters except you and your gadgets.
Cetatuia Monastery deserves to be visited, and simply that the way you go, climbing that hill to get there makes everything sense, because when you arrive at your destination you see that there was nothing in vain and that it was worth going up there .

This place is located in front of the Palace and Mall, plus St Nicholas church near it. I guess due to the traffic nearby, the house is now suffering (as being several hundreds of years old) thus being under renovation at this moment in time.

However you can still admire the outside structure and pictures depicting the house some 100 years ago.

Well maintained area with wide roads and lots of traffic though.

The Catholic Cathedral of Iasi ... a true gem of the modern architecture - bold design and very interesting architectural solutions. Very very out of the box design from the architect who designed it a very bold move from the catholic church in Iasi who sanctioned the design.
Finished in 2005 it is not on the main path of the pedestrian area - like all the other major places of worship in Iasi , but definitely more impressive than most of those (don't get me wrong the other places are also beautiful and impressive in their own way , but in my eyes look a bit too traditional , with a classic and somewhat boring design, this place is so fresh and unusual that impressed me more than the others).
it's design with the all-around stained glass windows allows plenty of light so the interior is really lit up , decorations are minimal but still impressive , not opulent and definitely more suited for a place of worship of the 21st century.
Visiting is free of charge - but like in any church donations are welcome - and it is open during the day so you can enter and visit the place.
Overall a very interesting place - I do recommend you visit it when you are in Iasi - regardless if you are a catholic believer of not.
