We really enjoyed the mix of stops on this tour: bizcocho shop, the lake, a weaving studio, the waterfall, and the market made for a lovely day. Spending a lot of time at the market wouldn't have been great, since many stalls have the same wares. Even at the big Saturday market, there wasn't a ton of variation (we actually enjoyed looking at the spices & food the most). Definitely check out the coffeeshop at the edge of the market area -- best coffee we had in Ecuador!

Daniel was a truly outstanding guide. His love for his country and its culture is very apparent. He picked some exceptional experiences, and was thoughtful, knowledgeable, and kind every step of the way. At Otavalo market he was patient, and helped negotiate reasonable prices. He went out of his way to ensure i had a memorable experience. This was one of the best tours I've ever been on. I got some amazing photos and made memories that will last a lifetime. Can't recommend Daniel and his tours enough!

Lots to see in the city and good city bus tour (hop on/hop off). Be sure to visit the "real" equator exhibit right next door to the touristy one. It's a lot like many other South American cities, but has it's unique charm of modernity and antiquity. BTW, best airport in South America by far and a step above many US airports.

We had a private tour with Luis! He was very punctual and picked us up with his very clean and comfortable car. It was great talking to him because he knows a lot about Ecuador (historical and geographical) and told us about life in Quito and Ecuador.
We made lovely visits to the equator line, a rose farm, otavalo market, the town of cotacachi and the laguna cuicocha.
Luis let us decide how long we would like to stay at the different stops, so the tour was tailormade for us! We loved it, thank you so much, it was absolutely worth it and we would recommend it without hesitation!

I signed up for this tour on the Gray Line site directly as I was booking the day before and wanted to avoid 3rd party. I did not receive any email or message confirmation but I took a chance and went to the pick-up point anyway but no tour guide or van arrived. I was unable to call the company with a USA cell phone so emailed them (link on the tour site) and was shocked when I heard back right away explaining their website schedules were problematic right now and offering me a tour the next day March 1. I was so happy and took it. There were only 2 of us plus the guide and driver but the tour was absolutely what I was looking forward - a series of stops and experiences in the communities and area a couple of hours north of Quito. This was something that traveling on my own without speaking Spanish would have been very challenging to execute. Francisco was our guide and was great - enthusiastic and personable and the 3 of us were able to communicate in English (their second language) very well. We left at 7:30 and got back around 5:30 (with traffic). We had lunch at a fantastic restaurant in Cotacatchi. Our driver was awesome as well but I cannot remember his name, unfortunately. Kudos to Gray Line for rectifying my situation so quickly.

Estefania was so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. She was flexible on the itinerary to better fit our interests. She is passionate about the communities and shares that with her tourists.

Diego was our guide. Provided pickup from my hotel in Quito. He is a good driver, answered questions readily, and had a great knowledge base of the communities we saw and the geography of the area. We had coffee and bizcochos in the morning; lunch stop was awesome and I got my first taste of cuy which I highly recommend. Stops at the Otavalo market and Peguche workshops were well worth the visit. I could have stayed all day at the market but I was already overloaded with gifts to take back to family. Overall it was an excellent experience with breathtaking landscapes. Bring umbrella and sunglasses, will need both per typical Andean weather (but the rain only lasted 15-20 min), lovely weather the rest of the day.

We had a great experience with our tour guide Stui! He told us so much about the volcanos, the history and people of the region! We enjoyed the tour because we got to taste Bizcochos at the place where they are made, we went to Lago de San Pablo, the Otavalo market, Cotacachi and hiked a bit in Cuicocha to see the beautiful lake! This experience was amazing, many thanks to our guide Stui, you are going a great job!!!

I had Diego as a guide to Octavalo Market and some of the surrounding cities as a solo traveler. We started in Caymbe and tried Ecuador’s delicious version of biscotti with dulce de leche and a local cheese. Next we wandered through Octavalo’s indigenous market filled with colorful textiles and trinkets. Diego helped me find the best quality and authentic items. Next we headed to Cotacachi where we had an Equadorian specialty Guinea Pig! It was one of the best meats I have tried, I was surprised how much I liked it. Last but not least we wandered Cotacahi where they are known for their leather goods. I had a great time on this tour and highly recommend it!

We had a perfect two days with Jorge (Tour Express and Transfers) in Otavalo and the surrounding areas. He was very open and attentive to all our special requests and we were able to tailor our trip to include a few days in the beautiful Intag cloud forest, a hike at the Mojanda lakes and, of course, the Otavalo market and the incredible food market. Jorge is reliable, knowledgeable, and an excellent driver. Thank you for a wonderful trip!

My Ecuador trip with Adventure Journeys exceeded my expectations in all respects! Alfonso Freire, tour guide, was absolutely the best! He was super knowledgeable about everywhere we went (Ecuador guides have tour university degrees). He identified the different indigenous groups we encountered and what makes each unique (in fact, he is a member of a professional dance group that performs native South American dances). Alfonso's total attention was on making my trip special --- plus he was patient with me during our hikes in high altitudes even though he never even got winded (he's qualified for all types of sport activities and guide certifications).

This trip's itinerary provides a great cross-section of Ecuador including a visit to an Otavalo indigenous village, a few days in the Amazon rain forest with a Kichwa community tour (learned how they make chocolate), climbed an incredible waterfall, visited the famous 'Swing of the End of the World' in Banos, hiked near the Chimborazo volcano, visited Inca ruins, and ended with a tour of Cuenca, a colonial city, etc.

Hotels were all clean and satisfactory with the Hacienda La Andaluza being a highlight (it's like an art museum - outstanding). This was my first trip to South America and the people are so warm and gracious - everyone goes the extra mile to provide superior service. I also found the tour registration process very efficient. And when I had questions, I always received a written response by the next day. Finally, this is a longer review than my norm, but I can't emphasize enough how pleased I was with my Adventure Journeys trip. It checked all the boxes in every way!! My strong recommendation - sign up!! Tx L
