Ofcourse he's a wonderful person, a funny guy finding humour in everything, a wonderful private guide to help you know what you need & also goes out of the way to let you know what you would like. But apart from that, he's very accommodating. I was running short of RMB cash & made an unusual request (usually which is not possible) to take some part of payment in RMB & some part in USD since I didn't want to take back any RMB with me. He agreed & that actually was very helpful! You can always count on him, he's very trustworthy, we left our bag containing our passports, cash & cards in his bag & it was all ok! In the end, we had to go back to hotel & it would get very late, so we wouldn't find any dinner. He pre-ordered for us so that we didn't miss out on dinner. Michelle spoke flawless English, provided abundant information, and guided us through the main sights. We enjoyed both a scenic boat cruise and a bike tour, with Michelle patiently snapping countless photos for us. We savored a delightful traditional meal at a charming café. Our day couldn't have been more perfect. Additionally, Michelle went above and beyond to assist us in booking tickets for the Beijing hidden city, handling every request with utmost helpfulness. We were met at the station, all be it with a little wait as there was a mixup with which station, so do double check!
We saw all the sites in Guilin and Yangshuo and found it truly beautiful and a great rest stop on our extended 18 day trip.
I asked about the local cuisine and Tom took us to a great local place for a hearty bowl of rice noodles!
The next day Tom had some suggestions for tweaks to our itinerary to make it more relaxed, and surprised us with a trip to an ancient village and a wonderful restaurant. We really appreciated that!
Travel China guide were happy for us to choose our own hotels, and the guide and driver were always on time and helped us with bags and everything.
Overall we felt well looked after, learned lots of historical ands cultural information and appreciated having a local guide with great local knowledge. Jack did a great job at efficiently planning my trip, fulfilling all my requests. Our guides, Kate and Afuhan, were incredible! They kept us safe while still pushing us to get the most out of the experience. The cruise allowed us to discover some fantastic scenery while sitting comfortably on the 1st floor of the boat. Nature showed its stunning beauty, and we could enjoy it with the best view. - Sam-mei Y31 contributionsYangshuo is such a beatiful place. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Long Hair Village and learning more about their culture and life. Their performance touched me for its sincerity and meaning.
After that, we headed to Longji Rice Terraces and saw the view through some fog and mist which was an amazing sight. We then capped of the night with a show - Impressions Guilin. There is still another show in the area and I wonder if the other show is better.
The next day, our tour guide took us to see the Silver Caves and to take a cruise along the Li River. Both sights were amazing and Lily made the experience better for us by really taking care of us and seeing to our needs.
Thank you, Catherine Tours for helping set up the itinerary for us. She even helped us get train tickets at the station for our next day departure. The mountains throughout the region were beautiful and the activities of boating on the river, scootering along the rice fields and going up the hill highlighted the scenery nicely. This was my third trip with trippest and will use them again. - Kevin R1 contributionOur guide, Lily Cao, was absolutely incredible. We were always well looked after and were blown away by the beauty of Guilin and Yangshuo. She had so much knowledge and was such pleasant company the whole trip - we had so much fun with her. Outside of our itinerary we asked about rock climbing and buying local tea. Within minutes Lily hooked us up with great climbing guides, a whole tea experience, etc.
And in addition to our planned meals Lily brought us local fruits to try and made sure we always had what we needed. Couldn’t have asked for more. He is knowledgeable about the places, but he never inundates you with too much information. He lets you enjoy the sites silently and only adds great relevant points to the conversation. He took a few very good pictures of us with his camera and shared them.
