    Well worth popping in
    Came here a couple of weeks ago with my partner and our 12 year old. This place is definitely worth a quick pop in if you are passing or in the area. The inside of the building is stunning (from the beautiful ceilings to the stunning floor and, of course all the books) and it reminded me of something you might see in a Harry Potter film. It is a small place, so you would only be looking at a 10 to 15 minute stop, but, well worth it!

    Review of: Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil - CCBB Rio de Janeiro
    The best cultural centre in Rio.
    Excellent cultural center in an excellent location and free. For me is the best place in Rio to visit for an exposition and other cultural events, like theatre, cinema, instalations with a excellet restaurant (Colombo) and a very good café. It's a triple excellent place.

    Review of: National Library (Biblioteca Nacional)
    Gorgeous building
    The inside is beautiful, with art deco features, a high atrium, and sweeping staircase. You have to store your bags in a locker, which is very cheap and you get your money back when you're finished. You're not allowed to go in the research rooms but you can peek in, and the whole thing is worth a 20-30 minute visit.

    Beautiful, but really crowded!
    Me and my family went to the visitor center by car to get a van for a ride to cristo redentor. There should be a real parking space for visitors! Also, more signs for newcomers should be installed on the road.

    Review of: Quadra da Portela
    Samba Schools are a must for those who want to touch the pulse of Rio
    There are some ten samba school in Rio but on this occasion I went to Portela because they won this year´s carnival. The atmosphere is fantastic and it is great to see that the enthusiasm runs high the entire year until the February Carnival. It does not matter whether you have talent for dancing, for those who visit Rio for the carnival, I recommend to enroll into one of the schools and not only watch the carnival on one night, but also participate as a performer on another night. I did that once, and it was one of the most exciting adrenaline filling experiences I ever had.

    Review of: Casa de Rui Barbosa Museum
    Lovely garden
    Unfortunately the museum itself was closed but they let you walk around the lovely gardens! There are wild monkeys in the trees here which is fun and there were some interesting plants and other flora to look at.

    Review of: Riocentro Exhibition & Convention Center
    Paralympics
    Walked from the Parque Olimpico. Easy walk however there were no signs on how to get between venues. Walked west to the hotel, then through car park towards the lake, crossed the road and continued south west on the footpath next to the highway. Crossed at the first traffic lights and there. Took about 20 minutes. Venue was good. Signage a bit poor however there was adequate space for the events. Adequate toilets and food options. Good venue.

    Review of: Parque Estadual Library
    Beautiful library - worth a quick visit
    The best public library ever! Really beautiful, with air conditining, offers a very confortable studying/reading area, really nice outdoor space with desks. Nice to go after dark too, they offer individual lights on the outside space too. Sometimes they offer exhibitions too. Great tip: nice bathrooms, so you can have a pit-stop if you are nearby. ;)

    Review of: Uber Lounge
    Thank you Uber
    We have been traveling full time for several years and using Uber in many countries. The experience varies with the legality of the service or the aggressiveness of the Taxi drivers in any given city. We've had a lot of challenges connected with our drivers at airports, so to finally find an actual Uber lounge where you are guaranteed to find your ride was an excellent experience.

    Review of: Centro de Conveções SulAmérica
    Very basic and hard to get in
    I participated at the World Congress here and must admit that this is one of the poorest Congress centers I have been to. The building is really big, but the entrance is "well-hidden" and there are no signs, so since I arrived on my own, I had to walk around the whole building to find one. The interior is very basic. I came by metro (station Estaçio) and the entrance is something like 200 meters away. I would say that the best option is arriving by taxi.

    Review of: Casa Rosa Centro Cultural
    Soak in the samba atmosphere
    Got here at 6pm on a Sunday and paid R25 for cover and R10 for a plate of the local fd. Quite decent actually. Had my dinner before the band started playing samba music at abt 7pm. Not many danced for this first set as it was probably early but by the 2nd set at abt 820pm it got crowded and many were grooving to the music. Nice casual place, relatively cheap beer at R6 and atmosphere here was great!

    Review of: Baukurs Cultural
    Hidden pearl
    Off the beaten path, BKC offers a great range of cultural programs, many free. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly and the building is gorgeous. Look for the cinema program for kids and the courses and workshops.
