Fantastic! Incredible! The best place in Rio for parties and family fun. Big Jump USA is cleaned every hour after every session. They follow all the Covid guidelines and it is very safe. I totally recommend it!

Very difficult to get in. All fenced off and derelict. Just really sad. Dont expect much to see if you come to a conference and stay nearby at Rio Central.

Really enjoyed our night out here. Entry is free and the setting is spectacular. The stand and its interior are also worth exploring, lots of marble, chandeliers and elaborately tiled flooring. We speak no Portuguese but everyone was very friendly and we were able to successfully place small bets (2 reals). Food was basic but good value, e.g. 10 reals for a toasted cheese sandwich.
Thanks to the Club for the warm welcome.

Adjacent to the Brazilian Cathedral of Football, Estadio do Maracana, is this site of Olympic indoor volleyball. The concrete structure with steeply tiered seating provided excellent sight lines for the matches. After a lengthy metro ride on line 1, fifteen stops from our apartment in Copa, and a 20-25 minute walk from the Sao Francis Xavier stop, we reached the stadium. The Brazilian love for volleyball was evident and the electric atmosphere and the high quality of play made for a memorable experience.
Sadly the food offerings here were no better than the other Olympic venues, but the beer was cold and the hospitality of the hosts outstanding

I visited on thursday, so the place was empty, like a desert, and the place seems to me and my husband kind of dangerous during the week, so, based on the reviews, the place seems to be a better tour for weekends.

If you speak Portuguese, check "Sesc Copacabana" theaters' programme and organize your visit. The "Sesc Copacabana" complex, besides a hotel, comprises two theaters: "Teatro de Arena" (the main theater) and "Sala Multiuso" (a smaller space). Both are famous among "cariocas" for the quality of plays and musicals staged. And principally, at popular prices. The theaters are in the middle of Copacabana ("Posto 4") and just between Rio's subway stations "Siqueira Campos" and "Cantagalo". Enjoy!

A historical square with a statue of a man on a horse in the middle.

The Imperial Palace is nearby as well as other historical buildings and churches.

It also leads you to the ferry terminal which is a short walk away.

The Portuguese royal family once resided in the vicinity. It has strong historical links to the development of Rio.

The puzzles were challenging but well integrated into the storyline, with each clue—whether an old diary or hidden cipher—deepening the unsettling mystery.

Overall, it was a thrilling, immersive experience perfect for fans of horror and mystery. Highly recommended!

A friend wanted to see the Hippodrome de Gavea while we were in Rio; since I like horse racing I went along and I'm glad I did. It's about a km from Ipanema beach, just opposite the Jardim Botanico (Botanical Gardens, also worth a visit). It must be about the most statuesque/classical hipodromo in Latin America (I've been to Palermo and S. Isidro, Buenos Aires, and the Hippodrome de las Americas in Mexico City); also clean and well-maintained; entry is free; and the racing is not bad (on turf, wide track, plenty of runners of Anglo-Irish ancestry); Tote monopoly, of course. Odd thing: despite all these pluses, the place - on a Saturday afternoon - was very empty, so not much atmosphere, but easy to relax, have a beer + food (not great food, at least in the bar).

we really lucked out that the day we went to Prainha the ocean looked like a river. No waves. Many people were just sitting in the ocean talking away.
