Nice venue for expos, well situated in the heart of downtown, easy access by underground. Not large but adequate for art expositions, worth watching because some nice activities may happen there.

Small museum that today had a gorgeous, vibrant exhibit of carnival costumes, head dresses and floats. Great gift shop with high quality handicrafts made by indigenous artisans. Only issue is that you need to buy items using a money transfer app that only works for Brazilian banks so we couldn’t purchase anything.

This shopping center does not look like much, but it is home for some great antique shops, especially upstairs. from cheap to very expencive. They also have a few other shops with fun looking dolls and many figurines from cartoons.

This is a terrific shop displaying arts and crafts from Brazil. Some churches would be proud to have the wooden saint carvings in their sanctuaries because they are very skillfully created and high quality art objects. Other items are much more "craft" oriented - whimsical figures of wood, bark or clay, etc. Very interesting array of items - some are "expensive" and others are very affordable. The owner is fluent in English and very helpful - even arranging for shipping of some very heavy pieces from Rio to the United States. Very much with a cab ride to fine this shop.

Off the beaten path, BKC offers a great range of cultural programs, many free. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly and the building is gorgeous. Look for the cinema program for kids and the courses and workshops.

This art gallery showing work of a small selection of modern Brazilian is located in a yellow colonial style building with displays on 2 floors. The gallery is scheduled to move in 2018 to a new modern building (see photo) further down Rua Anibal de Mendonca closer to Ipanema Beach (Beach Posto 10). This gallery is not very large at all with only a few dozen pieces of art on display. It is worth a quick visit though for anyone with an interest in art. My favourite painting was one done in 1957 by artist Candido Portinari called "Favela"... Very Rio de Janeiro.

It sits inside PUC, the catholic University. Not a tourist attraction, though. Only for those really interested in history and architecture.
