    Review of: Feira Hippie de Ipanema
    Fun place to stop by when walking through Ipanema on Sunday
    As my wife and I strolled through Ipanema, we stumbled upon the Sunday Hippie Fair. It was by happenstance because we didn’t plan that. It was a blessing because my wife loved it. She was interested in purses, blankets, and rugs that vendors were selling. She found a vendor selling blankets and she bought a few of them. She liked them a lot. She also bought a beach bag that said Copacabana on it. We even came back to buy two more blankets because she wanted to give them out as souvenirs. The vendors we worked with only spoke Portugese so there was a bit of a language gap but we paid in cash and it worked out.

    This place is great for street shopping. Picking up various souvenirs of Rio from here was a good idea. It is all so colourful and festive.

    Huge market with done bargains but lots of cheap junk
    Felt the market was s must see in Rio and it was just as expected, busy and vibrant. No pickpocket problems, which we had been warned about

    Review of: Mercado Popular da Uruguaiana
    Perfectly controlled chaos
    We knew what we were getting into visiting this market and it did not disappoint! There is SO MUCH STUFF at this place and it was a lot of fun walking though it! We enjoyed not being accosted by the vendors (which happens in other places we visit), and were simply in awe taking it all in. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking to buy... well, anything! :-)

    Copacabana Fair
    You see these stalls that come to life in the late afternoon and early evening.

    Paintings, bags, maps fridge magnets, clothes from tee shirts to football shirts. All kinds of souvenirs and you might be able to haggle a price.

    You will notice the same or similar items will pop up in other stalls further down.

    It can get a bit hectic in the evening and we did visit it a few times and purchased some items.

    Review of: Ipanema Farmer's Market
    Very good local market with an excellent array of fresh fruit and vegetables.
    This local market is located around the sides of the Praca Nossa Senhora da Paz just outside the entrance to the Nossa Senhora da Paz metro station in Ipanema.

    The market only operates on a Friday morning and whilst it is relatively small there are a good number of stalls selling some beautifully fresh fruit (some of which we hadn't seen before), vegetables, eggs, mushrooms plus some fish and meat. There were a good number of locals buying produce and we could see why.

    There were also a few stalls selling hand crafted souvenirs.

    Review of: Mercadão de Madureira
    Not recommended
    We drove an hour from Ipanema hoping to see some cool markets, not so. I would not recommend venturing to Mercadao De Madureira if you are a tourist or do not know the area well. We did not feel at all safe so did not get out of the vehicle.
