A lovely beach tucked away and only accessible by boat and foot. So natural and unspoiled but some garbage that people had left it’s so sad there is someone that would do that. The water was clear and the sand powder fine with no rocks to hurt your feet. The waves and rip tide are strong but good for surfers. A hidden gem.

You need to start early to reach the peak for sunrise, 2am in our case, but it is very worth it. The sunrise was spectacular and our awesome guide Martin knew all the good spots for great photos.
The hike at night is demanding physically but does not present any technical difficulties. Martin managed our group very well, keeping us updated on our progress, making sure we had regular water breaks, and stopping to share info on the jungle's nature.
If you want avoid bigger groups and crowds at the top to enjoy this experience the best you can, contact Martin!

PS: Martin mentioned it but take some warm clothes to wait for the sunrise at the summit, it's windy and chilly before the sun shows up.

Lagoa Azul (Blue Lagoon) is that kind of place that once you go, you’ll never forget! Warm deep blue water, clean and flat sea where you can enjoy swimming, scuba-diving, snorkeling or simply buoying! Beeing accessible only by boat, it is almost never crowded, which makes it the perfect beach to relax and enjoy nature! Boats have to be anchored along the coast, respecting the Coast Guard recommendations and rules in order to avoid accidents. It is a safe place to take kids, as long as they know how to swim. It is not proper for young kids. There is no sand, just rocks so, basicaly, people stay on the boat decks having drinks, chatting and jumping into the amazing sea!

This is a place you must visit if you are in the island.
The access is by hiking 2,30hrs on a wide road of soil and rocks, from Vila do Abraão.
If you are lucky and the ocean is calm you may find a boat to take you back to Abraão, otherwise you will have to hike back.
But its worth every step. The left side of the beach has a cristal clear water river that ends in the white sands of the shore.
You also have the prison ruins and a museum that is good to visit
    Go early and enjoy!

From Abraão, Short trek walk past 5 beaches, takes about 30mins. Lovely little beach with trees to shade under and restaurants for cold drinks and affordable food. You can also get a boat $B15 each way from Abraão port

"Ilha da Gipóia" has been known, for many many years, as a high-end top destination! The island is almost entirely occupied by fantastic private mansions and beaches. Getting an invitation to it means that your hosts are certainly among the rich, famous and happy landlords of this dream island. Nevertheless, there is a beach at "Ilha da Gipóia", known as "Praia do Dentista", that may be attended by the public in general. Tourist boats bring guests from "Angra dos Reis" to "Praia do Dentista" to enjoy the day at its beautiful and calm waters. Another boat caters for meals and drinks. Music comes from the many other boats anchored at the beach ... And the party goes on! Enjoy!

As we always hear, the beauty of the island and its many beaches (of which we visited just a part) is magnificent. We stayed in Açaratiba which I highly recommend. The other side of the island (Abraão) is much more "developed" to the point of becoming a tourist trap. We stayed at Recanto Do Sol, a bed and breakfast simple but in which you can feel Samara's (owner) finger in every little bit of it. Everything is comfortable, of good quality and taste. The breakfast is home made and varies everyday, From this B&B a nice less than 15 min walk takes you to Araçatibinha, one of the most beautiful and cozy beaches I have ever been. One can hire boats or join others for fixed tours to nearby lakes and beaches -- every one more espectacular than the last. Make sure you visit the Praia do Dentista, another jewel. Because of the island difficult logistic, everything is quite more expensive than in mainland. It is not a cheap trip, but it is worth every penny of it.

The beach is nice, there are several restaurants where you can enjoy a meal and a beer. It's nice to hang out there, especially at night.
