- pdrane56Northwest Illinois228 contributionsWe enjoyed walking along this area. The artesian well was quite busy the whole time we were there.
Can anyone explain why there are bricks washing up in the sand and on the beach. Just curious as to the history of them.Written September 21, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Patricia FSaint Paul, MN35 contributionsNice park! Activities for kids, bathrooms as well, lots of area to space in the covid era. Good place to bring lunch and chill!Written August 17, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dr_XaosPalatine, IL919 contributionsStopped by this location with wife and daughters as we were exploring the Main Street strip of Ashland. We enjoy being able to get some information and history of the local areas that we visit, since it helps provide a bigger/better picture when you know more about them. The Ashland Historical Museum does an excellent job of providing details of different aspects of the local history in a variety of different forms and ways; there are interesting antiques, different fascinating displays, some miniature mock-ups, and numerous photos.
The volunteer staff are friendly and helpful as well as being very well informed about the materials both inside and outside of the museum. They have a section that's geared to keep younger (or young at heart) visitors occupied and entertained. They also have a nice gift shop, which has a nice selection of items that provide even more details of the local area. My older daugther got a book of "scary stories" that we written by a local author, and she's loved noticing the local details that he includes in his tales.Written July 18, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - lark77Delavan, WI84 contributionsImpressive engine especially if you love trains and train history as this engine is the only 10-wheel drive engine ever built.
The engine is located outside surrounded by a fence next to the restored Soo Line Depot at 400 Third Street West in Ashland. Add this to your walking tour of downtown Ashland as you view the murals in the city's 8 block Main Street business district.Written August 16, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - 893kennethnBayfield, United States50 contributionsThe roar of the engines, smell of the racing fuel, dust, hot dogs and a cool beverage. Starts out light and ends under the lights. Americana at it's best.Written August 9, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ChequamegonAshland, WI5 contributionsI've never been disappointed by the wonderful productions of the Chequamegon Theater Association. Their performances are at the Rinehart Theater, which is located directly behind the laundrymat on the east end.Written May 9, 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mike HWaterloo, IA226 contributionsI don't think we saw them all, but they were very impressive. It was a nice walk around the downtown area.Written October 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Dr_XaosPalatine, IL919 contributionsStopped by this location as family was walking down Main Street and exploring the strip. We entered looking for some cookies to buy for an afternoon treat, especially with having two kids in our group. Store was a lot more of a gift shop than a cookie store, since the majority of the front end had various souvenirs and whatnot. However, there were some sweet treats in the back.
Both daughters ended up getting some ice cream, which had about a dozen or so different options for flavors. Wife and I perused the chocolate sections and picked out some delicious options. I particularly enjoyed the chocolate and coconut bark as well as the chocolate caramels with sea salt.
Woman behind the counter was wonderfully delightful! She was very helpful and friendly throughout our experience, which made the stop at Gabriele's German Cookies even sweeter of a visit!Written July 18, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Anke vLyndon Station, WI3 contributionsDavid contacted me for the first time in 2010, to do some graphics and marketing for Benoit Cheese. It has always been such a pleasure to work together, and getting to know this type of business and WI cheeses. When he unexpected passed away, I drove 4+ hours to say my goodbyes, and that's when I met Jill, the current owner of Benoit Cheese Haus. Ever since, I'm so fascinated about her passion, motivation, perseverance, knowledge, generosity, and kindness. She brought the Haus to even a higher level and more special than it was already. Perfect place to stop in yourself or to seek for some gift options for any occasion, especially for the Holiday season! It's a place where a cheese lovers' dream come true indeed!Written December 1, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Tara KChicago, IL22 contributionsWe loved seeing the ice caves on the Sherp. This is a must do experience whether you are ice fishing or just want to see the ice caves. Tommy was awesome! I don’t fish but I would come back and go fishing as I know it would also be a memorable experience
Thanks Tommy!Written February 13, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - James RHolland, Canada21 contributionsThis is a spacious loft above "The Spot" Bar. Very quiet location. Bed is very comfortable. Great place to lay your head after a long day on the highway. Fantastic pizza restaurants close by.Written November 8, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Mike HWaterloo, IA226 contributionsThis is a nice small town theatre. Nothing fancy, but is a reasonable place to watch a movie. The prices for concessions were much cheaper than the larger theatres.Written October 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Douglas G1 contributionIt is really pricey, but the selection is super interesting and just fun to look at. The shop keeper is a very kind man and was happy to tell us more about the products we asked about. Absolutely worth stopping in!Written October 1, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
