Magical Day! I expected this tour to be good, but Teiko (my guide) exceeded all expectations. She was in contact with me before the tour, ensuring that the lunch options would meet my dietary needs. The tour started with a walking download of the history of Kamakura. I've been living in Tokyo 9 months and this was my first time to the Kamakura area. I'm so glad I had a guide, Teiko, as there were many hiking trails and entrances I would have missed just using a map or my phone. She was always prepared, even providing bug ointment after I was bitten. Learning about the cave shrines which are unique to the area was great. She also made sure I "washed my money" the proper way at Ugafuku Shrine. We ended with a beautiful view of the ocean and the beach!

Extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. The trip was as smooth as possible and he shared a wealth of knowledge about our trip and Japan as a whole. Highly recommended.

Great experience! It was husband and I’s 7th anniversary and the modern gift is stationary. We decided that getting a Hanko name stamp while in Japan would fit the bill perfectly. We showed up at the quaint shop and were graciously greeted by the owner. He then gave us a brief overview of Hanko and his shop and we greatly enjoyed the history. We got to pick what type of material and size of the stamp we wanted, which were of a higher quality that what was included in the experience, but they graciously provided a discount. While they were making the stamp, we had a chance to explore Kamakura and enjoy the sites and ate a delicious lunch. Once we returned to the shop a few hours later, everything was ready! The best part was seeing your name translated into Katakana and then morphed onto the stamp. So cool. Overall this was a historically interesting, fun, and beautiful time. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a unique and lovely experience.

Nobu Sato was our guide. He is very welcoming, professional and efficient during our half day tour from Tokyo to Kamakura. Kamakura was nice and worth the visit, taking more than 4 hours though.

Joe and Yoshi are terrific tour guides. And the added bonus was that Joe is also an amazing photographer and took pictures that we will always treasure!

Booking a private tour is the way to go to see the highlights of the Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. Since we were not familiar with the trains and buses and did not speak Japanese, it would have been a challenge to do this on our own. I highly recommend a private guide. Yoshi was very knowledgeable about the area, the history of the shrines and temples, and good places to eat. He kept us moving from one place to another. One piece of advice is to contact the tour guide for all your questions and requests. Be realistic as there are many shrines and temples in Kamakura, and really getting to all of them in 1 day is not possible. 4 is the total we had to give us enough time to also do some souvenir shopping. I asked as many questions to be prepared for transportation costs and how things are paid in Kamakura. It is a cash only tour, except for the trains which can be paid by credit card. The good thing is Kamakura is a short ride, south of Tokyo. It gives you a taste of what the history was going back before Edo period. Remarkable temples and shrines. You'll love it as it is a beautiful part of Japanese history.

Exploring Kamakura on two wheels is a must! Packed with history and beauty, the shrines, temples, and hidden gems of Kamakura make this a perfect day trip from Tokyo. Our guide, Kazu, was super friendly and made my husband's birthday even more special with his sense of humor and kindness. Thank you for a wonderful day!

We found this tour through Marriott and what a find it was. Having local guides are always great but having local students is even better! Our guides Gota and Shion were very polite and informative. They were very accomidating to our interests. We talked about so many things and learned a lot about the local culture. They were as interested in us as we were of them. I highly recommend it.
