Free museum, and decently accessible via public transportation -- take the #51 bus from Hamamatsu train station, some of the buses actually stop right at the museum but others have a short walk from a different bus stop.

The main building doesn't take a lot of time to go through if you don't stop and watch the videos. They have a couple full size aircraft and a movie theater (which unfortunately was closed the day I went). On the top floor they have models of every aircraft the JASDF has used going back to their founding in the 50s.

From the top floor you can walk over to the hanger which has lots of full size aircraft from different eras, some of which you can even sit in and take pictures. They also have their simulators in this building, but if you want to do that make sure you get there when they open. I got there in the morning, and all of the slots were already filled for that day.

There’s a little gift shop where you enter, but it can get very full so it’s probably worth going there earlier in the day.

Went here for seeing a combination of cherry blossom and tulips and it was fantastic...
There were thousands of multicoloured tulips everywhere and very cool atmosphere...
Trains to move around were fun to photograph..
Overall best flower park in Aichi area for sure.

I'll be honest, we only came here because it was a rainy day, but we really enjoyed it. Loved the instruments from all over. The neat thing was you could listen to the sound most of them made either on headphones provided, or in videos on tbe displays. We also caught a demonstration, and although it was only in Japanese,it was enjoyable to listen to. Check it out.

We visited this place on November 16. This attraction is free if you make a reservation online. The reservation page is in Japanese. You will receive the confirmation with the QR code via e-mail. After showing the QR code at the information desk, the lady leads you to a television screen where you can see a funny animation about what you can and cannot do during your visit. It is visually clear enough that anyone who does not speak Japanese or English realizes that touching objects in any way is dangerous and can lead to personal injuries for which you may or may not have to be taken away by ambulance. In this Plaza you can absorb the history of Suzuki products, ranging from looms, bicycles and mopeds, to motorcycles and cars. Many products are provided with English-language videos.
On the second floor, it is explained how the Splash car model came into being. And this from the first meeting, the design, the development to the assembly. This way you can experience for yourself how the design is created in Photoshop, how a model is created in clay, what tests the initial model undergoes, how they record the colours of the bodywork and the interior and you end with some assembly examples.

This was my first time exploring a cave and it was fun! Great for the family! It had hills and areas that was cool to maneuver through! The walk is not that long so it is great for any age!

The temple is the family temple of the Ii clan and is closely related to the rise of the Ii clan. It can be reached by bus, but due to the limited number of buses, most visitors use their own cars or rent a car.
The Japanese garden located on the north side of the main hall is so wonderful, but not only the garden, but the whole temple precincts are wonderful. The garden on the north side of the main hall cannot be enjoyed for free, as there is a fee to enter the main hall. But all the areas that can be accessed for free are carefully maintained, and one cannot help but be grateful for the efforts of the people who meticulously maintain the temple.
Although the temple was used as a stage for one of the NHK Taiga TV dramas, there are not so many people visiting the temple even on holidays, probably because of its distance from the center of Hamamatsu city. You can visit the temple in peace and quiet.

It's not a castle that you have to see but worth a short visit if you're in the area. Inside is a small exhibition, though mostly in Japanese, about the history of the building. It's worth noting that Tokugawa Ieyasu spent 17 years of his life here.

I had visited the Mingsha sands dunes in Gansu, China located along the Silk Road and found this miniature version miserably unattractive.

The only plus point is that it is part of the beach at the southern part of Hamamatsu facing the Pacific Ocean. I never knew that the desert can co-exist with the sea, I thought it must be somewhere in a dry inland where oasis exists.

You cannot find camels here unlike that in Dunhuang. The sand dunes only covers 0.6 km from north to south and 4 km from east to west. It took me only about 5 minutes to climb up the sandy slope to the 'summit' and walk another 5 minutes to the beach and another 10 minutes to walk back. At Mingsha sand dunes, I spent the whole day at the scenic attraction and enjoyed the piped songs and music and stunning scenery as I roamed around the oasis and the desert with the camel entourage at the background.

I understand that the sunrise beach scenery is beautiful but we came after our lunch and it was scorching hot. Only few of us were willing to take up the challenge of climbing up the dunes under the hot sun.

We spent about an hour and took a group photo at the front entrance and later at a windmill at the nearby park before leaving.

A good exercise after a heavy lunch.

Hamanako Garden Park is different from Hamamatsu Flower Park. The entrance to this city park is 800 yen. Comparing the online photographs, Hamamatsu Flower Park seems to be more scenic than this park though both are located about 30 minute drive from each other. This park is very big and needs a lot of walking. While there are pleasure boat cruise rides and you can rent a family bicycle, I would prefer to walk to appreciate the beauty of every flower in the gardens.

There are about 20 facilities within the park where one could enjoy the open spaces and seasonal nature along the shores of Lake Hamana. But the theme seems to lack focus and many plots of garden just replicated itself with almost same species of flowers and nothing unique or special. Out of the many mini-gardens and facilities, I think the Flower Museum stands out from the rest.

In the Flower Museum, is a replica of Claude Monet's house and the garden painted by the famous artist. But the Museum was really crowded and the garden paths were narrow and I lost the appetite to really appreciate the gorgeous colorful flowers when you accidentally bumped your body against someone coming your way.

The Flower Museum is located near to remote eastern exit and by the time we walked back to the bus parking area where we initially alighted, many of us were `groaning' with feet pain and tiredness. We did not venture up the Observation Tower to enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Hamana and her green forest.

For a while, I thought our mini size Singapore indoor Flower Dome at Gardens By the Bayis more theme-focused and the flowers look more vibrant and freshly colurful than that I found here. Although the species are many, the park just lacks that wow factor.

Our group consisted of 4 children and 3 adults. The children enjoyed the attractions but the adults didn't go on many. the Attractions are a little dated. It should be noted that it was a very nice day (32 degrees) and the park was almost empty because it was a Monday morning. The best part was the pool but that got a little crowded in the afternoon.

All of the English reviews of this temple are neglecting a couple of interesting features regarding this tourist attraction:

    A. While it is true you can order shojin ryori meals at this temple, what's unique about this temple is it's known for vegetarian unagi. You can either order it as the entree, in which case you get a big piece of the unagi, together with rice and a modest scattering of side dishes, or you can order the deluxe lunch set which includes several vegetarian dishes, but still includes a smaller sampling of the unagi. This is the meal I chose. While the unagi doesn't have quite the umami of real unagi, it tastes pretty good.

Normally if you want to order a shojin ryori meal at these Buddhist temples you need to make a reservation in advance, which I didn't have. But at the ticket booth in the parking lot, there is an attendant who will check with the kitchen to see if they can accommodate you, and if they are not too busy, you can order a meal. Terrific!

    B. This temple has a very mysterious feature. There is a little concrete arch where all the Buddhist statues are located, scattered around the ground. There are supposed to be five little Buddha statues perched on top this arch. Some visitors say they saw only four, some say only three. The day I visited, I examined the structure very closely. The statues seem cemented to the arch, so they do not seem removable. And they are covered with moss and lichen, and look to have been there a long time. I recall seeing five statues on the arch and I made sure I took several pics. If you look at the pics on the Tripadvisor site, there are four pics of the arch. Two show five statues and two show four. Who knows what is the real reason behind this mysterious discrepancy.

This temple is highly recommended because of the various things to see on the grounds. There is a large wooden main building with a sloping garden in the back. I forget, but the building may have had Nightingale or creaking floors as a security measure, which is common in temples in the Hamamatsu area. There is a long, meandering pathway that takes you to a forest of tall cypress, a red Torii gate, and to where the Buddhist statues and concrete arch is located, There is also a photogenic red stair-like structure or hallway. The fact that you can enjoy a syojin ryori meal for lunch is the icing on the cake!
