From Drum Tower, entered Muslim Quarter and turned left following the sign to Mosque. Cute alleyways with all kinds of tacky souvenir stuff to purchase (want a Stalin calendar?) Mosque was great and I was one of two tourists there. Saw a procession / group of people coming out of the prayer hall which was interesting. Nice courtyard and buildings, quiet and peaceful. Went back to Muslim Quarter and tried 3 different places for food, had cold sesame noodles, beef soup dumplings and lamb 'burger', all delicious and nice afternoon stroll.

Area inside Pagoda was nice, and you can walk up the 6 floors for some nice views. Outside, there is a very modern and nice park, plenty of food options and malls nearby and the water fountain show in the evening plus the illuminations / lighting makes for a special atmosphere. Worth seeing and walked the area both day and night, staying in the Westin which is right next to the Pagoda.

Beiyuanmen Night Market or Muslim Street Market, this is the good place to taste the food in Xi'an.

Don't ask about the pock if visit this place, there is chicken, lamb, beef and local snack.

The squid in spicy sauce, you will see this menu all along the street, the price starts around 20 RMB. You can try if you like squid and spicy.

the sticky rice cake, you will see the big rice cake that has been separated into small piece with a bamboo stick, dipped with sweet brown sauce. taste is okay if you love to try something new. it is sticky rice in cold temperature; cost 3 RMB per stick (5RMB if you buy 2 sticks)

Lamb, you will see the Lamb meat hanging in front of the shop, you can try the sandwich with the lamb meat. There are many shops for you to select; the trick to picking the good shop; follow the long queues and you might get the good taste of this sandwich.

There are many more foods to try. If you have a chance to visit Xi'an, you need to come to visit this place.

It can be accessed by Subway or by Bus, depends on where is your hotel.

Note: this place also sells the souvenir from the Xi'an (Terracotta Army), it is quite cheap, depending on your choice.

Qujiangchi Relics Park is located in Qujiang district of Xi'an China in Shaanxi Province. This park is not only picturesque but also breathtaking. If you are looking for a get away time with fresh air and blue skies and calm waters then this is your cup of tea. The park also offers boat rides that provide more scenic views of the area. It's a big park and hence one could go on for a while before they'd hit an end, this makes it even better for people like me who enjoy long walks and trails. You can also catch a beautiful sunset while you are here. This park is definitely high on the list for places to visit. And it's not crowded.

We had a fun and interesting time shopping and tasting some of the Shaanxi street foods in this ancient China type market area. It is helpful to have WeChat Pay. I was originally hesitant to use it, but now find it to be a very convenient and safe way of paying.

书院门 as the name implies, door of an institution or academy. The shops in this area literal sells the basic 4 items (文房四宝) required for Chinese calligraphy. The reason for this many shops selling similar items may probably be linked to the institution sited in the area, 关中书院.

This academy had its history explained displayed in the yard. Entry is free, just head of the gate and look out for an entry into a souvenir shop that is in charge of issuing out the entry ticket. You need to have your passport with you. Once you obtain the ticket, head for the guard house and hand it over to the person behind the table.

    The institution is preservation structure.

I was told only go here if I had time, but this should be on every persons itinerary at night! The lights here are incredible, and the walk is amazing.

It’s a rare opportunity to see catholic Chinese people and a place like that in China in general. Church is very small, but looks very coloring. People was very nice, allowed us to take pictures inside and had a nice conversation.

The Celebration Palace Park is opposite the university in which I teach and was built in the 1950s, as a place of relaxation for staff and students, on the ruins of an ancient Chinese palace after the university had moved from Shanghai. Shortly it was opened as a public park.

If you visit in the mornings after about 8am you will see the amazing sight of hundreds, if not thousands, of mainly retired people, singing, dancing and making music on the paths that meander through the large wooded area. Some are organised groups , some are ad hoc but all demonstrate a love for life amongst these older people.

One of the most interesting sights is of people (mainly men) writing Chinese calligraphy in water with large brushes on the stone pavements.

As well as this human interest there a number of reconstructions of the original palace buildings, a small zoo and aviary and a few fun-fair rides, as well as a large lake on which you can rent a boat. There is something for everyone there. I recommend a visit.

This temple was a pedigree going back at least 1500 years. Even though the buildings have been destroyed and rebuilt a number of times it is the same place and was a centre of translation for Buddhist texts from Sanskrit to Chinese during the Tang dynasty. Some of the temples are distinctly Vajrayana with hideous scenes surrounding the serenity of the Boddisattva.

They had a variety there. I met some fun local people and we played drinking games. Food is quasi-western. I only had the Hamburger and the meat was average. Beer was great. I stuck to an ALL DAY IPA they had at the time. All around good time.

This was a pretty interesting place to visit. There are many statues and flower beds spread out in a tranquil setting. Walking through we came upon a group of locals dancing. It was just amazing to see something like this. A few of us joined in. Everybody was smiling and it really got our day off full of happiness.

After hearing so much about the novel - Journey to the West, now we got to see the real Tang Sanzang's face (XuanZang).
Thats how a good monk look like.
Good photo taking spot with the Pagoda as background. Must go inside to see the pagoda and exhibits for more information. go see translated buddhist sutras by Xuanzang.

Another venue for spending money either on clothing, apparels, food and whatever not. This is good to look at and be done with it.
