All of the fountains are fed by gravity and have been beautifully restored after being totally looted and destroyed by the Nazis in the war. Restoration work carried out by Polish and Russian restorers was completed in 2000. If you believe the expertss, the cascade looks the same as when it was built in 1801. It is very "engineering" because it has a ball, which is possible move (almost) without strength due to the water and the fountain. Like many other sculptural groups in the Lower Park, it is allegorical and symbolizes the victory of the young Russian fleet over the Swedish squadron at the Battle of Gangut.
