After two years of renovation. And it is brilliant!
Still, for a common tourist, this hill is better to be visited as a sort of la cerise sur le gâteau, i.e., to crown his/her sightseeing tour of this great city. Even more so by night.
I did just that - in February, at about 9PM. That slope packed with skiers was brightly lip up, the viewing platform gave a spectacular panorama of evening glittering Moscow and the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic!
    Strongly recommended!
(Do explore parking opportunities in advance if you plan to drive up there. Still, the best way to reach it is by subway - a clean, quick, reliable, convenient, cheap (!!!), safe and customer-friendly means of transportation everywhere in Moscow - surely one of the best in the world!)

It was a group tour of women assisted by an English speaking guide. Beautiful rooms with beautiful art, culture & lifestyle showcasing the 18the century Russian elite. Weather was comfortable cool (soon going to be cold). Best time to visit is summers (May to August). No electricity is established, so as to maintain its original form. It was the Summer or Party palace (not the residence) of Count Pyotr Sheremetyov. Was Used for hosting grand receptions for diplomats and parties for elite. Has a lovely & big pond. Beautiful gardens and sculptures. Silk wallpaper, woven tapestries & 18th century chinaware are absolutely fascinating. Closes during winters.
P.S.- English speaking guide definitely improves the whole experience!

I went to that marvellous park in February, just a couple of days ago. Alone.
My God, Christmas and New Year festivities seem to still rage on there!
I mean, formally they are over, of course, but numerous Xmas trees are still there in front of the main entrance, lavish intricate illumination is omnipresent, the park is thronged with public, a huge skating rink welcomes its guests and the ambience is damn mirthful!
A bombastic place! Fantabulous - be it in winter or in summer, in daytime or by night. Strongly recommended any moment you think like going there.
(Named after Russian/Soviet writer Maxim Gorky, by the way.)

Beautiful and quiet park with many restaurants on the nearby streets. People go skating on the pond during winter time.

Just round the corner of Red Square and you can take a rest walking or sitting by the fountains near nice lawns and trees.
BTW, there’s a toilet in the middle opposite the Kremlin wall, no queues as in the toilet in the Square itself.
    It’s really convenient.

This year, for the first time, the capital of Russia, Moscow, hosted a large-scale celebration of the Lunar New Year, the symbol of which was the dragon. Many central streets were beautifully decorated, master classes were held, various goods were sold, citizens and guests of the country, tourists could try various Chinese dishes. The "Apothecary Garden" of the oldest Botanical Garden in Russia, founded by Tsar Peter I in 1708, also participated in this holiday. One of the garden's greenhouses was decorated for the holiday with symbols of the Chinese New Year, illumination, red lanterns, an image of a dragon, and in combination with marvelous plants it looked incredibly festive and beautiful.

That chunk of territory now is a part of Gorky park. You can try and combine your visit but for more joy I would recommend to schedule Neskuchny sad as a separate visit. It is nice to go there during hot summer day to relax and slow walk with a stop in a coffee shop. Very recommend going there in early Fall to enjoy yellow-orange-red leaves foliage. The bottom line - it is relaxation, slow, quiet time with natural beauty!

Visited this lovely aquarium today because my grandson insisted on going there. Little pricy but well worth the visit. Lots to see and experience. A few restaurants are located here. Toilet facilities are absolutely clean. Well maintained. Free mini bus service service offered from metro station to aquarium and back. My grandson enjoyed his visit.

On my way from the 'White House', which I wanted to see for its recent historical connections I walked up past Kudrindskaya Square Building, one of the 'Seven Sisters', the well known skyscrapers of Stalinist days, towards the close by metro stations of Barrikadnaya and Krasnopresenskaya.

There close by I saw the medieval looking entrance with towers and fake natural walls of the 'Zoopark', the city's zoo. Although from reading it sounded like a zoo of quality, going back to 1864, I didn't go inside timewise and also with a general lack in interest for visiting such places, preferring to go on safaris.

We visited with 2 very happy small children. A very refreshing amount of space in the tanks and to walk around in but so many people with so little respect for the animals launching their arms into the tanks. Very poor access for prams and the disabled. Not much good having disabled toilets when the disabled can't gain full access to the facility.

Honestly more focused towards children but I still found 3 separate halls, over three floors, to be more than worthwhile for approx. 25 eur and a couple of hours. Highly recommended for children and adults alike !!!

Yes, the garden is more than one hundred years old and it's really charming but Moscow authorities made its total renovation first of all for Muscovites, not for foreigners.
I was there in late May. Being Russian and Moscow born, I go there quite often - to feel the environment, to relax, to grab a bite, eat an ice cream, admire mind-blowing pulchritudinous chicks with full of pizzazz...
Go there! But never expect anything extraordinary (except for gals, of course).
    Strongly recommended.
