Visiting St. Basil’s Cathedral is a must to all tourists to Moscow, because it is a iconic symbol of the city. Saint Basil's Cathedral, is an Orthodox church, built in 1561. It is having a fairy tale appearance, that what makes it alluring. I had the chance to go inside with Valentina, a local guide from “Walks with Folks”. Valentina picked me up from my hotel and we reached the Red Square for a morning tour. Valentina was well informed with rich background. She spoke fluent English with varied vocabulary. She spoke like a history professor. It was like a maze inside the Cathedral with floral design in different chapels. Truly unusual interior.

    SEE photos.

I lived in NYC for almost 10 years and I never thought there could be Metro stations that look like museums but I am in Moscow! This city is so opulent and elegant and so are the Metro stations with impressive architecture and details, also always clean, fast and organized.

I took the red metro line 1 to Biblioteka Imeni Lenina then walked through to the exit on the grey metro line 9 station Borovitskaya.

From there it was a short walk to the Kremlin complex although a couple of busy roads had to be crossed.

Due to the requirement to have a PCR test no longer than 24 hours before visiting many indoor attractions, my visit was limited to outdoor viewing.

The buildings were spectacular including gold domed churches, towers, statues and the stunning St Basil’s cathedral.

I also enjoyed walking through the snow covered Alexander Park and saw the Lenin library.

Very interesting and I must revisit to see the indoor attractions when the pandemic allows.

The park is huge and has several buildings that can be visited. I recommend the Great Castle because it can see the architecture and life of Russia during Catherine the Second. The other two castles are ok, if you are interested in art be sure to visit them. There is a breathtaking golden hall in the Great Castle. Certainly the whole park is beautiful, in one part there is a lake around which one can remember and rest. There is a miniature museum in one section, but we have not visited it.

The Bolshoi Theater is located in the heart of Magical Moscow! The building is beautiful, the decoration is spectacular. It's a must experience. The performers are the best in the world, and they have a great selection of shows, Book in advance and I would advice to get tickets through their website for fair ticket prices. Enjoy!

Very impressive and educational museum! A must do when in Moscow! You get to see the history of space exploration, lots of unique artifacts, relics, Sputnik satellites and much more also Belka and Svelka (the 1st two Russian space dogs to survive). It is definitely a wonderful experience and very reasonable price!

This park is not in the prime tourist area, but for every history (specially WWII) buff it's worth the extra effort reaching it in the western part of the capital. To make your journey more fulfilled and convince you seeing it, beside the park itself there's an amazing WWII Victory museum and near by (5-10 min walk) is the Triumphal Gate and the Borodino battle panorama museum (read my separate reviews on them).
The park is huge, adorned with many fountains, huge Soviet style monuments, lake with renting boats, walking paths and benches, as well many kiosks with fast food and drink options.
Bonus TIP: The metro station by the park is called "Park Pobedy". It is one of the most beautiful ones and the second deepest in the world, 84 m below ground).

An interesting idea to collect slot machines from our childhood in one place.
At one time, we spent a lot of time throwing 15 kopeck coins in order to shoot at Sea Battle or Sniper.
You can visit this museum as a way of nostalgia, and in order to acquaint children with the games that we played more than 30 years ago. But not the fact that they will impress them more than modern games.
    Many machines don't work.

The classic weekend location in summer and very well-known for many good installations for kids. It‘s always worth a walk when the weather is good. During this time (still summer holidays) it’s not crowded and the waiting time for attractive installations is short.

Although young due to Communist madness, this Cathedral rapidly became one of Moscow symbols.
The original Church was built here in honor of defeating Napoleon, and it was being built for almost half a century during the 19c.
Hardly to believe, the Stalin's communist regime demolished the Cathedral with explosive to the ground, in order to build the "Soviet Palace" - a museum complex in honor of "Socialist achievements". Due to lack of funds it was never realized, but instead a swimming complex was built during mid 20c.
The present Cathedral was started under Jeltzin in 1990 and finished in 2000.
It's an amazing architecture piece all in white marble with five golden domes, while the interior is simply breathtaking (unfortunately, no photos inside).
It is the seat of Russian Orthodox Church and currently the biggest Orthodox temple in the world (the bigger one in Bucharest, Romania is still under construction).

These buildings are ones of the highest in Europe. They look very futuristic and this is the only part of Moscow with this kind of Dubai-style architecture. Very impressive view.
