One of the highlights of my trip to Davao City. Instead of taking a taxi or Grab, I decided to take a jeepney ride. Take a jeep to Calinan Transport Terminal and ride a van with label “CALINAN”. Travel time is approximately 1 hour. I asked the drover to drop me at Calinan Market and from there, I took a pedicab towards Philippine Eagle Center. My fare totaled to almost ₱300 instead of the ₱1,300++ if I took Grab.

Take time to observe the birds and be respectful of the surroundings (no noise is allowed, no littering, no scaring the animals, etc.). Try to leave some tip as well as this will go to the management of the center. Don’t forget to bring some insect repellant. Mosquitoes are everywhere!

The only thing that I didn’t like is the small enclosure of the majestic Philippine eagles. I wonder if they get depressed inside their very small and restrictive cages!

After my visit, I went out to the highway and hailed a pedicab and headed nearby Malagos Garden Resort (fare is ₱30).

From Malagos Resort, I went across the highway and took a pedicab towards Calinan. I asked the driver to drop me at “L300 or Taloda”. From there, just ride the van going to Roxas Night Market (just across Ateneo De Davao) for a sumptuous and cheap dinner.

People’s Park was located across the road from my hotel.

    It is a four-hectare wide cultural-theme park.

    There is no entry fee.

It features lots of greenery, shade and seating areas and many sculptures.

Worth a visit when in Davao.

Roxas avenue night market. Tight security on arrival with entrance at one end and exit at the other. Crowded and bustling place. Many vendors which spoils you for choice. Individual stalls selling meat and fish BBQ. Make your choice. Sit back and enjoy. There is no alcohol permitted here. There is no cutlery. Plastic gloves provided for eating. Nonetheless, enjoyed the evening and the food. Left with full stomach and happy. It’s a must visit if in Davao.

My main reason for visiting this mall was to dine at TGIs.

This is a typical well set out Ayala Mall with lots of dining and retail options.

There is a taxi stand outside the mall.

I have been hearing about these tunnels for years. Drove past them so decided to go and take a look. Worth a visit. My wife a Filipino was very upset to see the conditions underground that Filipinos were made to work under. The staff were very friendly and the guide very good. Do not go if you are clostrophobic you have to duck your head in a few places.

Just another SM Mall. A lot of choices for food. Not crowded and therefore it feels relaxing to walk around.
Going to the place is a little bit of heavy traffic.

A good place to go for sightseeing, learn something in a tour, take photos, be active, go fishing and have lunch with a group.

we took a short detour to visit this sacred place to say a fervent prayer.

among all the cathedrals i've been to, this is one of the smallest. nevertheless, it doesn't diminish the fact that one can find solace and tranquility inside this Church.

the altar is temporarily being reconstructed so a big tarpaulin depicting the actual altar is being used as a cover.

we lit several candles on the side, giving thanks for all the blessings we've received.
