- Roy C1 contributionI had been planning a 2-week trip to the Philippines and decided to visit Davao based on my research. A big part of my decision was to spend 3 days of my trip to climb Mt Apo. I was fortunate to read about the experiences that others had with Albert and contacted him via email. I knew I was dealing with someone very experienced when he sent me the equipment list and what I should do to be prepared. My experience climbing the mountain was incredible and although we had cold and windy conditions, it was one of the best hikes I've had in many years (Appalachians, Pikes, Longs, Kokoda etc). When the weather held off for the early morning views of the sunrise from the bolder field, it was a slice of heaven!
Not only is Albert an incredible guide, he also has a wonderful team of support staff from Ray, Roy, the cooks, the equipment and camp team - they were all professional and extremely friendly and welcoming. They made me feel more like family than a "customer".
I would strongly recommend Albert and his team to anyone who would like to include the wonderful mini-adventure of bagging Mt Apo to your bucket list. I flew solo from the USA for this experience - my first trip since 2018 - and I am so happy that I chose Davao, and the best guide on Mt Apo!!

Well kept and clean. The kids and animal lovers will enjoy this mini zoo.

This was my third attempt to visit the museum. First attempt in June failed, because they were not yet open at the new place. Second attempt in September failed because I went on Sunday, and it is closed on Sundays.
There is no entry fee. The museum is very small - only 50 objects displayed. However it opens a window to Davao city and helps to understand the city better. It gave me leads on what I need to explore more.
When I had some questions regarding the musical instruments, the young guide was available to answer it. There is an audio-visual (set of six or seven video clips) which is informative.

In the Philippines, I have learned to dig a little deeper and broaden my knowledge to fulfil he same desire to learn about things. Museums like this are really quite interesting, detailing the history, crafts, and early peoples of the area. The exhibits are good quality and offer many beautiful decorative and functional objects. I went to the place when it was just beginning to open and not too many people also.
I did not enter the first stall but looked around.
I went inside the BELEN store - managed and I think owned by the charming elderly lady plus two other younger ladies.
I was the first and the only customer in the store. I was prepared to haggle but she already gave me a good price so much lower than I had in mind.
So nice.

But due to privatization and lack of sense of other land owners they did not unitedly develop it so that future generations could learn from the past. You would be amazed by the history of it but much is still wanted to explore if you are really into history.
