- dr_oyama2Kobe, Japan3 contributionsMany islands, small to large, in various shapes, some with caves, are there. In addition, there are many gulls and black-tailed gulls (in Japan black-tailed gull is called Umineko – sea cat – as its cry resembles that of a cat) flying over. Feeding a Umineko is recently prohibited, as its feces damage pine trees.Written October 5, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GeovikiDenver, Colorado389 contributionsOne of the best parts of Matsushima is cruising among the rocks and islands. You spent enough cash to get here, don't go cheap now! We were the only ones in first class, which gives you both an inside area plus a deck all around the outside for great photos. In fact, we had to specifically ask to get first class tickets at the counter, and the clerk seemed surprised, like they rarely sell them. We took the JR train and walked to the dock in Shiogama City, disembarked in Matsushima after 50 mins.Written June 16, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MarucoMiami, FL2 contributionsThere is no better view of Matsushima! You can see all the way from Sendai city to Ishinomaki and everything in between including all of the Matsushima islands. It really is an incredible way to see the coast. Highly recommended!Written August 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Construct37Whittier, CA1,114 contributionsMatsushima Bay is a picturesque location and if you want to get a good gander you will want to take a sightseeing cruise. Matsushima Shima-meguri Kigyo Kumiai offers tickets on-line or in person at a couple locations. The pier is about a ten minute walk from Matsushima Kaigan Station and they have a ticket office directly next to the station.
The cruise was a bit less than an hour and there was indoor seating available if you do not want to stand on the deck. You have to pay extra to go upstairs which felt a bit of a cash grab but the view from the bottom suited me just fine.Written November 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
