A bit of a steep hike up to the castle but worth the effort. The view from the third floor windows is spectacular of the city and surrounding area. Many oif the exhibits have English texts but still worth seeing the items that didn't. Only problem we had was the stairs are steep between floors and the treads are a little narrow. Still all in all worth the visit.

    I'm a fort lover.
I've visited more than 300 forts in the world.
Azuchi fort is a legend built by Nobunaga Oda, and destroyed too soon.

    The replica looks good.
The view from that is awesome.
I respect their efforts to recreate the great Tenshu, the main tower of the fort.

The other attractions are not attractive at all. Cheap and childish... sorry.

It's almost unbearable to see it is still in business for 23 years considering the number of visitors.

I hope they can do something to keep the fort active.

Toba was our first port of call on a cruise from Yokohama.
The Visitor Centre near the Marine Terminal provided us with a Toba Town Walks brochure; the Toba Castle Ruins were a suggested point of interest.
It was a fairly gentle walk up the castlel hill, it was cherry blossom time so the park at the top was a delight, with lovely views across Toba Bay.
But don't get excited with anticipation of some castle ruins; you'll be sadly disappointed !!
