Quan is friendly and very knowledgeable across a wide range of subjects. He told me with some pride that he's a good cook and can make many nice dishes! I was the only guest on my tour, which made me sad as it reminded me how slow things still are after the pandemic. The itinerary isn't set in stone - Quan knows a range of places and will adjust the stops depending on dietary requirements, interests, location of accommodation etc. Also, because there was only me & I was happy to ride on the back of Quan's motorbike, it meant we visited places that were too far apart to visit on foot. I also found it fun to be on a bike and very that experience (Quan drove extremely safely, and provided me a helmet). It's worth checking with your guide on WhatsApp prior to understand the group size and options available. Food was very fresh, the Bành Mì in particular superb. I did find the volume of food daunting - you're pretty much eating 5 small meals - so if you're a frugal easier I'd suggest skipping a meal before the tour. Quan walked me to the old district at the end of our time together.
So this tour is not just about the food, it's an opportunity to speak to a guide with excellent English and learn about a wide range of topics - history, culture, challenges and opportunities for Vietnam - it's up to you and the questions you ask! Highly recommended.
