Well worth making the trip if you are staying in Malatya. You can take the 251 or 256 buses that head north from the Inonu Stadium. You will be rewarded with a stunning mosque. Take the time to explore the ruins opposite and you will find the tomb of someone with the power to enable crippled children to walk.
Don't neglect to walk to the western edge of the town to see the remains of the medieval walls and a nice gateway

While staying in Malatya we took a local minibus to Battalgazi which is about 6km away. It is a small town situated between all the apricot and fruit trees and is a lovely place to walk around and relax. The Caravanserai is just round the corner from the meydan where the busses stop. It is in beautiful condition with lovely little shops and you can sit in the courtyard and enjoy something to eat or drink. The museum inside the building is very informative and give a feeling of what it must have been in the days when the travellers stopped here. Will definitely recommend a visit if you are in Malatya.

It is wonderful in what perfect condition the site is and all the effort that went into protecting it. A lot of excavations is still going on but the area open to the public is well organised. The paths and directions is easy to follow and it is not a big area to cover. It is good to read about Aslantepe before you visit as you need to imagine what is was like 8000 + years ago. Entrance is free and the guard will help you. It is very close to Malatya about 10km and you can come with a city minibus or ask a Taxi to take you there and wait for your return. You need not more than one hour to explore.

That's an almost 6,000 years old ancient city near Malatya city . You are experiencing a walk inside a city where different nations and generations lived thousands of years. Very well organised remarkable open air museum. I fell in love with the alizarin figures on the walls .

History is waiting for you at the Malatya Province Museum, which meets 80% of the world's dried apricot needs.
🔶 The 5,000-year-old cube tomb, which was unearthed during the excavations in Arslantepe Mound, which was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 2021, has started to be exhibited in the Malatya Museum.
