What travelers are saying
- St_DiaS40 contributionsGöreme was an epicenter of early Christianity, it also featuring painted cave churches. The rupestrian churches date from the 10-11th. century and include Tokalı Kilise and El Nazar Kilise , St. Barbara , Saklı Kilise , Karanlık Kilise . .. . The otherworldly fairy chimneys are impressive. The park is a unique spot, not to be missed. Prepare for at least 2 hours of walk with a lot of matchless sights (it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985). I found also the "Dark Church" remarkable because of the way in which it preserved the beauty of the celebrated frescoes. Nevertheless, if you are not curios/passionate about the subject, it is better not to pay the additional ticket.
Prom a practical perspective, the landmark is easily to be found and has a parking There were several very commercial stores while I expected to find something authentic craft objects. A little crowded in the morning with longer waiting lines for the ticket purchase. If you feel the need for a guide, you can find an authorized one inside. We did not go with this opting (as we have done some reading prior to the visit) but there were several groups which seemed pleased with the service. There is a cafe and a museum shop inside so you can have a coffee and a drink.Written April 29, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Given you have travelled all the way, no reason not to take in the fairy chimneys.

- Erin N18 contributionsWonderful carpets and experience. We purchased 2 large carpets and they included 2 small ones as well. They are so beautiful and the experience of learning about the history and culture of carpet making and all the symbols was very interesting. We were not going home directly after visiting Göreme so we let them know when we’d be arriving home and our carpets arrived a few days later, well packaged with no damage.Written November 23, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - County-HunterTacoma, WA3,732 contributionsGetting off the plane in Kayseri, this was the first place in Cappadocia that our guide took us to. With all the natural beauty of the area, I can see why. Plus, it is right off the road so you don't have to walk too far to be surrounded by fairy chimneys. Parking is at a premium and hard to find during busy times. There are also some kiosks nearby to buy souvenirs. Something for everyone!Written May 21, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JumanaAhmedabad, India97 contributionsMoonlight horse ranch , best place and a very warm welcome by Mr.Berkay. He was very friendly and provided a private ride, though we don’t booked prior. It was the best horse ride ever. We took sunset ride , every second and every penny was worth it. Horses were well trained and our guide Mevlüt was very polite , calm and helpful. He took very beautiful pics. The ride was for 2 hours, through the beautiful fairy chimneys sunset view and valley views.Definitely should go for it.Written November 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JenD_17Cape Town, South Africa132 contributionsThe Caravanserai itself is really majestic and amazingly well-preserved for its age. The carvings in the stone are lovely. It is worth a visit if you have the chance as you can really spend some time thinking about the history of this place. It is a bit off-the-beaten-track.
The village is very small and clearly impoverished so your visit could help to bring much-needed money to them.
Trigger warning for animal lovers: As with most places in Turkey, there were stray dogs to greet us, sadly not in good shape.Written January 10, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I have never had wifi on a shuttle before I thought that was pretty neat. I'm glad I used this service and felt it was more comfortable and spacious than a taxi personally.Written July 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
