Göreme was an epicenter of early Christianity, it also featuring painted cave churches. The rupestrian churches date from the 10-11th. century and include Tokalı Kilise and El Nazar Kilise , St. Barbara , Saklı Kilise , Karanlık Kilise . .. . The otherworldly fairy chimneys are impressive. The park is a unique spot, not to be missed. Prepare for at least 2 hours of walk with a lot of matchless sights (it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985). I found also the "Dark Church" remarkable because of the way in which it preserved the beauty of the celebrated frescoes. Nevertheless, if you are not curios/passionate about the subject, it is better not to pay the additional ticket.
Prom a practical perspective, the landmark is easily to be found and has a parking There were several very commercial stores while I expected to find something authentic craft objects. A little crowded in the morning with longer waiting lines for the ticket purchase. If you feel the need for a guide, you can find an authorized one inside. We did not go with this opting (as we have done some reading prior to the visit) but there were several groups which seemed pleased with the service. There is a cafe and a museum shop inside so you can have a coffee and a drink.

As with many sights in the area, you just need to stop by and take a few photos, no need to dwell for long unless looking to hike.
Given you have travelled all the way, no reason not to take in the fairy chimneys.

We drove so had the flexibility to take these in along our way from the airport.

The best place to see the hot air balloons at sunrise! This place offers amazing views of balloons from when they take off to when they land (with some landing right here).

We walked from our hotel Sultan Cave Suites up to the Open Air Museum traversing all the caves and pigeon houses along the way. Then we went back down along the Sword Valley, this part is an amazing walk through skinny yet deep gorges. Absolutely recommend this it is amazing.

One of the stops in Cappadocia that our tour group did. This rock formation really did look like a camel. There are other different rock formations nearby. Not too much parking in the area.

Wonderful carpets and experience. We purchased 2 large carpets and they included 2 small ones as well. They are so beautiful and the experience of learning about the history and culture of carpet making and all the symbols was very interesting. We were not going home directly after visiting Göreme so we let them know when we’d be arriving home and our carpets arrived a few days later, well packaged with no damage.

Getting off the plane in Kayseri, this was the first place in Cappadocia that our guide took us to. With all the natural beauty of the area, I can see why. Plus, it is right off the road so you don't have to walk too far to be surrounded by fairy chimneys. Parking is at a premium and hard to find during busy times. There are also some kiosks nearby to buy souvenirs. Something for everyone!

Moonlight horse ranch , best place and a very warm welcome by Mr.Berkay. He was very friendly and provided a private ride, though we don’t booked prior. It was the best horse ride ever. We took sunset ride , every second and every penny was worth it. Horses were well trained and our guide Mevlüt was very polite , calm and helpful. He took very beautiful pics. The ride was for 2 hours, through the beautiful fairy chimneys sunset view and valley views.Definitely should go for it.

The Caravanserai itself is really majestic and amazingly well-preserved for its age. The carvings in the stone are lovely. It is worth a visit if you have the chance as you can really spend some time thinking about the history of this place. It is a bit off-the-beaten-track.
The village is very small and clearly impoverished so your visit could help to bring much-needed money to them.

Trigger warning for animal lovers: As with most places in Turkey, there were stray dogs to greet us, sadly not in good shape.

Friendly driver, good price, free wifi, good AC! What more could you need? I recommend this service. I have never had wifi on a shuttle before I thought that was pretty neat. I'm glad I used this service and felt it was more comfortable and spacious than a taxi personally.
